1 SIMON Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who through the righteousness of our LORD and Saviour Jesus Christ have been made equal with us in the precious faith; Simeon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have obtained a faith of equal standing with ours by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ: Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ have received a faith as precious as ours:
2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you through the knowledge of our LORD Jesus Christ, May grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.
3 Who has given us all things that pertain to the power of God, for life and worship of God, through the knowledge of him who has called us by his glory and excellence; His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these you might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith, virtue; and to virtue, knowledge; For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge;
6 And to knowledge, self-control; and to selfcontrol, patience; and to patience; godliness; and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness;
7 And to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.
8 For when these things are found among you and abound, you are not empty nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our LORD Jesus Christ. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 But he who lacks these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins. For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins. But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins.
10 For this very reason, my brethren, be diligent; for through your good deeds, you make your calling and your election sure: and when you do these things, you shall never fall: Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to confirm your calling and election, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall. Therefore, my brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble,
11 For by so doing, an entrance shall be given freely to you into the everlasting kingdom of our LORD and Saviour Jesus Christ. For in this way there will be richly provided for you an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
12 Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though you know them well; and you rely on this very truth. Therefore I intend always to remind you of these qualities, though you know them and are established in the truth that you have. So I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have.
13 Therefore I think it is right, as long as I am in this body, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance; I think it right, as long as I am in this body, to stir you up by way of reminder, I think it is right to refresh your memory as long as I live in the tent of this body,
14 Knowing that shortly I must depart this life, even as our LORD Jesus Christ has shown me. since I know that the putting off of my body will be soon, as our Lord Jesus Christ made clear to me. because I know that I will soon put it aside, as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me.
15 Be diligent always, that you may be able to keep these things in remembrance; even after my departure. And I will make every effort so that after my departure you may be able at any time to recall these things. And I will make every effort to see that after my departure you will always be able to remember these things.
16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known to you the power and coming of our LORD Jesus Christ, for we were eye-witnesses of his majesty. For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. For we did not follow cleverly devised stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in power, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
17 For he received from God the Father honor and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent and majestic glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. For when he received honor and glory from God the Father, and the voice was borne to him by the Majestic Glory, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased,” He received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”
18 And this very voice which came from heaven we also heard when we were with him on the holy mount. we ourselves heard this very voice borne from heaven, for we were with him on the holy mountain. We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with him on the sacred mountain.
19 We have also a true word of prophecy; you do well when you look to it for guidance, as you look to the lamp that shines in a dark place until the dawn of day, when the sun will shine in your hearts: And we have the prophetic word more fully confirmed, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts, We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.
20 Knowing this first, that not every prophetic writing is made clear in its own book. knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone’s own interpretation. Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things.
21 For the prophecy did not come by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke when they were inspired by the Holy Spirit. For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
