1 The sons of Judah: Pharez, Hezron and Carmi, and Hur, and Shobal. The sons of Judah: Perez, Hezron, Carmi, Hur, and Shobal. The descendants of Judah: Perez, Hezron, Karmi, Hur and Shobal.
2 And Reaiah the son of Shobal begat Jahath; and Jahath begat Ahumai and Lahad. These the families of the Zorathites. Reaiah the son of Shobal fathered Jahath, and Jahath fathered Ahumai and Lahad. These were the clans of the Zorathites. Reaiah son of Shobal was the father of Jahath, and Jahath the father of Ahumai and Lahad. These were the clans of the Zorathites.
3 And these of the father of Etam: Jezreel and Ishma, and Idbash: and the name of their sister, Hazelelponi: These were the sons of Etam: Jezreel, Ishma, and Idbash; and the name of their sister was Hazzelelponi, These were the sons of Etam: Jezreel, Ishma and Idbash. Their sister was named Hazzelelponi.
4 And Penuel the father of Gedor, and Ezer the father of Hushah. These the sons of Hur, the first-born of Ephratah, the father of the house of bread. and Penuel fathered Gedor, and Ezer fathered Hushah. These were the sons of Hur, the firstborn of Ephrathah, the father of Bethlehem. Penuel was the father of Gedor, and Ezer the father of Hushah. 10 And Jabez will call to God of Israel, saying, If blessing, thou wilt bless me and enlarge my bound, and thine hand were with me, and didst me from evil, so as not to afflict me! And God will bring what he asked. Jabez called upon the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my border, and that your hand might be with me, and that you would keep me from harm so that it might not bring me pain!” And God granted what he asked. Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request.
11 And Chelub the brother of Shuah begat Mehir, he the father of Eshton. Chelub, the brother of Shuhah, fathered Mehir, who fathered Eshton. Kelub, Shuhah’s brother, was the father of Mehir, who was the father of Eshton.
12 And Eshton begat the house of healing, and Paseah and Tehinnah the father of the city of enchantment These are the men of Rechab. 42 And from them from the sons of Simeon, went to mount Seir, five hundred men, and Pelatiah, and Neariah, and Rephaiah, and Uzziel, sons of Ishi, for their heads. And some of them, five hundred men of the Simeonites, went to Mount Seir, having as their leaders Pelatiah, Neariah, Rephaiah, and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi. And five hundred of these Simeonites, led by Pelatiah, Neariah, Rephaiah and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi, invaded the hill country of Seir.
43 And they will strike the rest of the escaping to Amalek, and they will dwell there even to this day.
