1 THESE are the sons of Judah: Pharez, Hezron, Carmi, Hur, and Shobal. The sons of Judah: Perez, Hezron, Carmi, Hur, and Shobal. The descendants of Judah: Perez, Hezron, Karmi, Hur and Shobal.
2 And Lana the son of Shobal begat Nahath; and Nahath begat Ahumai and Lahad. These are the families of Rehoboam. Reaiah the son of Shobal fathered Jahath, and Jahath fathered Ahumai and Lahad. These were the clans of the Zorathites. Reaiah son of Shobal was the father of Jahath, and Jahath the father of Ahumai and Lahad. These were the clans of the Zorathites.
3 And these are the sons of Aminadab: Ahizareel, Neshmah, and Dibash. These were the sons of Etam: Jezreel, Ishma, and Idbash; and the name of their sister was Hazzelelponi, These were the sons of Etam: Jezreel, Ishma and Idbash. Their sister was named Hazzelelponi.
4 Pegoael and Hoshiah, these are the sons of Hur, the first-born of Ephratah, whose father was of Beth-lehem. and Penuel fathered Gedor, and Ezer fathered Hushah. These were the sons of Hur, the firstborn of Ephrathah, the father of Bethlehem. Penuel was the father of Gedor, and Ezer the father of Hushah. These were the descendants of Hur, the firstborn of Ephrathah and father of Bethlehem.
5 And Ashur the father of Tekoa had two wives. Ashhur, the father of Tekoa, had two wives, Helah and Naarah; Ashhur the father of Tekoa had two wives, Helah and Naarah.
6 And one of them bore Ahiram, Ephaor, Teman, and Hereshtar. These were the sons of one of them. Naarah bore him Ahuzzam, Hepher, Temeni, and Haahashtari. These were the sons of Naarah. Naarah bore him Ahuzzam, Hepher, Temeni and Haahashtari. These were the descendants of Naarah.

9 And one of them was dear to his father and to his mother, so they called his name Our Eyes. Jabez was more honorable than his brothers; and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him in pain.” Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez, saying, “I gave birth to him in pain.”
10 And they said to him, The LORD shall surely bless you and enlarge your territory, and his hand shall be with you and shall deliver you from evil, that it may not have power over you, and he shall grant you that which you request of him. Jabez called upon the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my border, and that your hand might be with me, and that you would keep me from harm so that it might not bring me pain!” And God granted what he asked. Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request.
11 And Caleb the brother of Ahijah begat Mehir, who was the father of Eshton. Chelub, the brother of Shuhah, fathered Mehir, who fathered Eshton. Kelub, Shuhah’s brother, was the father of Mehir, who was the father of Eshton.
12 And Eshton begat Tehiah, and Ropha begat Paseah, and Paseah begat Tehiah, and Tehiah begat Jazir. Eshton fathered Beth-rapha, Paseah, and Tehinnah, the father of Ir-nahash. These are the men of Recah. Eshton was the father of Beth Rapha, Paseah and Tehinnah the father of Ir Nahash. These were the men of Rekah.
13 These were the sons of Caleb the son of Jophaniah. The name of his first-born was Elah, and the name of the second was Naam, and the name of the third was Kenaz, and the name of the fourth was Ashiph, and the name of the fifth was Jamoael, and the name of the sixth was Jahrob. The sons of Kenaz: Othniel and Seraiah; and the sons of Othniel: Hathath and Meonothai. The sons of Kenaz: Othniel and Seraiah. The sons of Othniel: Hathath and Meonothai.
14 These are the sons of Caleb the son of Jophaniah. Meonothai fathered Ophrah; and Seraiah fathered Joab, the father of Ge-harashim, so-called because they were craftsmen. Meonothai was the father of Ophrah. Seraiah was the father of Joab, the father of Ge Harashim. It was called this because its people were skilled workers.
15 And the sons of Ezra were Jether, and Mered and Epher and Jalon; and she bore Miriam and Shammai and Ishbah the father of Eshtomoa. The sons of Caleb the son of Jephunneh: Iru, Elah, and Naam; and the son of Elah: Kenaz. The sons of Caleb son of Jephunneh: Iru, Elah and Naam. The son of Elah: Kenaz.
16 And his wife Jehudijah bore Jered the father of Gedor and Heber the father of Socho and Jekuthiel the father of Zanoah. And these are the sons of Bithiah the daughter of Pharoah, which Mered took. 17 And the sons of his wife Hodiah the sister of Nahom, the father of Keilah the Garmite, and Eshtemoa the Maahathite. The sons of Ezrah: Jether, Mered, Epher, and Jalon. These are the sons of Bithiah, the daughter of Pharaoh, whom Mered married; and she conceived and bore Miriam, Shammai, and Ishbah, the father of Eshtemoa. The sons of Ezrah: Jether, Mered, Epher and Jalon. One of Mered’s wives gave birth to Miriam, Shammai and Ishbah the father of Eshtemoa.
18 And the sons of Shimon were, Annon and Rinnah, Benhanan, and Tilon. And the sons of Ishi were Zoheth and Benzoheth. And his Judahite wife bore Jered the father of Gedor, Heber the father of Soco, and Jekuthiel the father of Zanoah. (His wife from the tribe of Judah gave birth to Jered the father of Gedor, Heber the father of Soko, and Jekuthiel the father of Zanoah.) These were the children of Pharaoh’s daughter Bithiah, whom Mered had married.
19 The sons of Shelah the son of Judah were Er, the father of Lecah, and Laadah the father of Mareshah, and the families of the house of them that wrought fine linen, of the house of Ashbea. The sons of the wife of Hodiah, the sister of Naham, were the fathers of Keilah the Garmite and Eshtemoa the Maacathite. The sons of Hodiah’s wife, the sister of Naham: the father of Keilah the Garmite, and Eshtemoa the Maakathite.
20 And the sons of Uriah's wife, the sister of Nahom the father of Keilah, were Zemri, Eshtemoa, Maachat, Eshtma, and Ashimon. The sons of Shimon: Amnon, Rinnah, Ben-hanan, and Tilon. The sons of Ishi: Zoheth and Ben-zoheth. The sons of Shimon: Amnon, Rinnah, Ben-Hanan and Tilon. The descendants of Ishi: Zoheth and Ben-Zoheth.
21 And the sons of Ashimon were Ammon, Domiah, Zerah, and Shelah. The sons of Shelah the son of Judah: Er the father of Lecah, Laadah the father of Mareshah, and the clans of the house of linen workers at Beth-ashbea; The sons of Shelah son of Judah: Er the father of Lekah, Laadah the father of Mareshah and the clans of the linen workers at Beth Ashbea,

23 These are the sons of Shelah. These were the potters who were inhabitants of Netaim and Gederah. They lived there in the king’s service. They were the potters who lived at Netaim and Gederah; they stayed there and worked for the king.
24 The sons of Simeon were Mibsam his son, Mishma his son, The sons of Simeon: Nemuel, Jamin, Jarib, Zerah, Shaul; The descendants of Simeon: Nemuel, Jamin, Jarib, Zerah and Shaul;

35 And were situated in beautiful locations, and peace and tranquillity reigned round about them. Joel, Jehu the son of Joshibiah, son of Seraiah, son of Asiel, Joel, Jehu son of Joshibiah, the son of Seraiah, the son of Asiel,
36 These were the names of the princes who were there in their families and in the house of their fathers. Elioenai, Jaakobah, Jeshohaiah, Asaiah, Adiel, Jesimiel, Benaiah, also Elioenai, Jaakobah, Jeshohaiah, Asaiah, Adiel, Jesimiel, Benaiah,
37 And they came to the entrance of Geder, as far as the east side of the valley, to seek pasture for their flocks. Ziza the son of Shiphi, son of Allon, son of Jedaiah, son of Shimri, son of Shemaiah— and Ziza son of Shiphi, the son of Allon, the son of Jedaiah, the son of Shimri, the son of Shemaiah.
38 And they found good and rich pasture, and the land was wide and good, and tranquillity and peace there reigned; these mentioned by name were princes in their clans, and their fathers’ houses increased greatly. The men listed above by name were leaders of their clans. Their families increased greatly,
39 For they who dwelt in it were the first settlers. They journeyed to the entrance of Gedor, to the east side of the valley, to seek pasture for their flocks, and they went to the outskirts of Gedor to the east of the valley in search of pasture for their flocks.
40 And these written by name came in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and destroyed their tents utterly where they found rich, good pasture, and the land was very broad, quiet, and peaceful, for the former inhabitants there belonged to Ham. They found rich, good pasture, and the land was spacious, peaceful and quiet. Some Hamites had lived there formerly.
41 And polluted all the springs of water which were there to this day and dwelt in their places, because there was good pasture for their flocks. These, registered by name, came in the days of Hezekiah, king of Judah, and destroyed their tents and the Meunites who were found there, and marked them for destruction to this day, and settled in their place, because there was pasture there for their flocks. The men whose names were listed came in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah. They attacked the Hamites in their dwellings and also the Meunites who were there and completely destroyed them, as is evident to this day. Then they settled in their place, because there was pasture for their flocks.
42 And some of them and some of the sons of Simeon, five hundred men, went to mount Gebel. These are the names of the men who went as their leaders: Pelatiah, Metitha, Rephaiah, and Uzziel, the four sons of Ishi. And some of them, five hundred men of the Simeonites, went to Mount Seir, having as their leaders Pelatiah, Neariah, Rephaiah, and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi. And five hundred of these Simeonites, led by Pelatiah, Neariah, Rephaiah and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi, invaded the hill country of Seir.
43 And they smote the rest of the Amalekites that escaped, and have dwelt in their place to this day. And they defeated the remnant of the Amalekites who had escaped, and they have lived there to this day. They killed the remaining Amalekites who had escaped, and they have lived there to this day.
