1 Then David conferred with all his leaders, the commanders of hundreds and of thousands. David consulted with the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, with every leader. 2 And he said to the whole assembly of Israel, “If it seems good to you, and if this is of the LORD our God, let us send word far and wide to the rest of our brothers in all the land of Israel, and also to the priests and Levites in their cities and pasturelands, so that they may join us. And David said to all the assembly of Israel, “If it seems good to you and from the LORD our God, let us send abroad to our brothers who remain in all the lands of Israel, as well as to the priests and Levites in the cities that have pasturelands, that they may be gathered to us. And David said unto all the congregation of Israel, If <i>it seem</i> good unto you, and <i>that it be</i> of the LORD our God, let us send abroad unto our brethren every where, <i>that are</i> left in all the land of Israel, and with them <i>also</i> to the priests and Levites <i>which are</i> in their cities <i>and</i> suburbs, that they may gather themselves unto us: David said to all the assembly of Israel, “If it <i>seems</i> good to you, and if it is from the LORD our God, let us send <i>word</i> everywhere to our kinsmen who remain in all the land of Israel, and to the priests and Levites who are with them in their cities with pasture lands, that they meet with us; He then said to the whole assembly of Israel, “If it seems good to you and if it is the will of the LORD our God, let us send word far and wide to the rest of our people throughout the territories of Israel, and also to the priests and Levites who are with them in their towns and pasturelands, to come and join us.
3 Then let us bring back the ark of our God, for we did not inquire of Him in the days of Saul.” Then let us bring again the ark of our God to us, for we did not seek it in the days of Saul.” And let us bring again the ark of our God to us: for we inquired not at it in the days of Saul. and let us bring back the ark of our God to us, since we did not seek it in the days of Saul.” Let us bring the ark of our God back to us, for we did not inquire of it during the reign of Saul.”
4 And because this proposal seemed right to all the people, the whole assembly agreed to it. All the assembly agreed to do so, for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people. 5 So David assembled all Israel, from the River Shihor in Egypt to Lebo-hamath, to bring the ark of God from Kiriath-jearim. And David went up, and all Israel, to Baalah, <i>that is</i>, to Kirjathjearim, which <i>belonged</i> to Judah, to bring up thence the ark of God the LORD, that dwelleth <i>between</i> the cherubims, whose name is called <i>on it</i>. 7 So they carried the ark of God from the house of Abinadab on a new cart, with Uzzah and Ahio guiding the cart. And they carried the ark of God in a new cart out of the house of Abinadab: and Uzza and Ahio drave the cart. 10 And the anger of the LORD burned against Uzzah, and He struck him down because he had put his hand on the ark. So he died there before God. And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzzah, and he struck him down because he put out his hand to the ark, and he died there before God. And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzza, and he smote him, because he put his hand to the ark: and there he died before God. But the anger of the LORD burned against Uzza, so He struck him because he had put out his hand toward the ark; and he died there before God. The LORD’s anger burned against Uzzah, and he struck him down because he had put his hand on the ark. So he died there before God.
11 Then David became angry because the LORD had burst forth against Uzzah; so he named that place Perez-uzzah, as it is called to this day. And David was angry because the LORD had broken out against Uzzah. And that place is called Perez-uzza to this day. And David was displeased, because the LORD had made a breach upon Uzza: wherefore that place is called Perezuzza to this day. Then David became angry because of the LORD’S outburst against Uzza; and he called that place Perez-uzza <i>as it is</i> to this day. Then David was angry because the LORD’s wrath had broken out against Uzzah, and to this day that place is called Perez Uzzah.
12 That day David feared God and asked, “How can I ever bring the ark of God to me?” And David was afraid of God that day, and he said, “How can I bring the ark of God home to me?” And David was afraid of God that day, saying, How shall I bring the ark of God <i>home</i> to me? David was afraid of God that day, saying, “How can I bring the ark of God <i>home</i> to me?” David was afraid of God that day and asked, “How can I ever bring the ark of God to me?”
13 So he did not move the ark with him to the City of David; instead, he took it aside to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite. So David did not take the ark home into the city of David, but took it aside to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite. So David brought not the ark <i>home</i> to himself to the city of David, but carried it aside into the house of Obededom the Gittite. So David did not take the ark with him to the city of David, but took it aside to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite. He did not take the ark to be with him in the City of David. Instead, he took it to the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite.
14 Thus the ark of God remained with the family of Obed-edom in his house for three months, and the LORD blessed his household and everything he owned. And the ark of God remained with the household of Obed-edom in his house three months. And the LORD blessed the household of Obed-edom and all that he had. And the ark of God remained with the family of Obededom in his house three months. And the LORD blessed the house of Obededom, and all that he had. And the ark of God remained with the family of Obed-edom in his house for three months; and the LORD blessed the family of Obed-edom and all that he had. The ark of God remained with the family of Obed-Edom in his house for three months, and the LORD blessed his household and everything he had.
