"Do not judge so that you will not be judged.1Judge not, that ye be not judged.
For by the standard you judge you will be judged, and the measure you use will be the measure you receive.2For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
Why do you see the speck in your brother's eye, but fail to see the beam of wood in your own?3And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me remove the speck from your eye,' while there is a beam in your own?4Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
You hypocrite! First remove the beam from your own eye, and then you can see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.5Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
Do not give what is holy to dogs or throw your pearls before pigs; otherwise they will trample them under their feet and turn around and tear you to pieces. 6Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened for you.7Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.8For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
Is there anyone among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone?9Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake?10Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
If you then, although you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!11If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
In everything, treat others as you would want them to treat you, for this fulfills the law and the prophets. 12Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
"Enter through the narrow gate, because the gate is wide and the way is spacious that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it.13Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
But the gate is narrow and the way is difficult that leads to life, and there are few who find it. 14Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
"Watch out for false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are voracious wolves.15Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
You will recognize them by their fruit. Grapes are not gathered from thorns or figs from thistles, are they?16Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
In the same way, every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit.17Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
A good tree is not able to bear bad fruit, nor a bad tree to bear good fruit.18A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.19Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
So then, you will recognize them by their fruit. 20Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter into the kingdom of heaven--only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.21Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
On that day, many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, didn't we prophesy in your name, and in your name cast out demons and do many powerful deeds?'22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you. Go away from me, you lawbreakers!' 23And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
"Everyone who hears these words of mine and does them is like a wise man who built his house on rock.24Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
The rain fell, the flood came, and the winds beat against that house, but it did not collapse because it had been founded on rock.25And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
Everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.26And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
The rain fell, the flood came, and the winds beat against that house, and it collapsed; it was utterly destroyed!" 27And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
When Jesus finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed by his teaching,28And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:
because he taught them like one who had authority, not like their experts in the law. 29For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.
