Deuteronomy 10
NET Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
NET BibleEnglish Standard Version
At that same time the LORD said to me, "Carve out for yourself two stone tablets like the first ones and come up the mountain to me; also make for yourself a wooden ark.1“At that time the LORD said to me, ‘Cut for yourself two tablets of stone like the first, and come up to me on the mountain and make an ark of wood.
I will write on the tablets the same words that were on the first tablets you broke, and you must put them into the ark."2And I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets that you broke, and you shall put them in the ark.’
So I made an ark of acacia wood and carved out two stone tablets just like the first ones. Then I went up the mountain with the two tablets in my hands.3So I made an ark of acacia wood, and cut two tablets of stone like the first, and went up the mountain with the two tablets in my hand.
The LORD then wrote on the tablets the same words, the ten commandments, which he had spoken to you at the mountain from the middle of the fire at the time of that assembly, and he gave them to me.4And he wrote on the tablets, in the same writing as before, the Ten Commandments that the LORD had spoken to you on the mountain out of the midst of the fire on the day of the assembly. And the LORD gave them to me.
Then I turned, went down the mountain, and placed the tablets into the ark I had made--they are still there, just as the LORD commanded me. 5Then I turned and came down from the mountain and put the tablets in the ark that I had made. And there they are, as the LORD commanded me.”
"During those days the Israelites traveled from Beeroth Bene-Yaaqan to Moserah. There Aaron died and was buried, and his son Eleazar became priest in his place.6(The people of Israel journeyed from Beeroth Bene-jaakan to Moserah. There Aaron died, and there he was buried. And his son Eleazar ministered as priest in his place.
From there they traveled to Gudgodah, and from Gudgodah to Jotbathah, a place of flowing streams.7From there they journeyed to Gudgodah, and from Gudgodah to Jotbathah, a land with brooks of water.
At that time the LORD set apart the tribe of Levi to carry the ark of the LORD's covenant, to stand before the LORD to serve him, and to formulate blessings in his name, as they do to this very day.8At that time the LORD set apart the tribe of Levi to carry the ark of the covenant of the LORD to stand before the LORD to minister to him and to bless in his name, to this day.
Therefore Levi has no allotment or inheritance among his brothers; the LORD is his inheritance just as the LORD your God told him.9Therefore Levi has no portion or inheritance with his brothers. The LORD is his inheritance, as the LORD your God said to him.)
As for me, I stayed at the mountain as I did the first time, forty days and nights. The LORD listened to me that time as well and decided not to destroy you.10“I myself stayed on the mountain, as at the first time, forty days and forty nights, and the LORD listened to me that time also. The LORD was unwilling to destroy you.
Then he said to me, "Get up, set out leading the people so they may go and possess the land I promised to give to their ancestors." 11And the LORD said to me, ‘Arise, go on your journey at the head of the people, so that they may go in and possess the land, which I swore to their fathers to give them.’
Now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you except to revere him, to obey all his commandments, to love him, to serve him with all your mind and being,12“And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul,
and to keep the Lord's commandments and statutes that I am giving you today for your own good?13and to keep the commandments and statutes of the LORD, which I am commanding you today for your good?
The heavens--indeed the highest heavens--belong to the LORD your God, as does the earth and everything in it.14Behold, to the LORD your God belong heaven and the heaven of heavens, the earth with all that is in it.
However, only to your ancestors did he show his loving favor, and he chose you, their descendants, from all peoples--as is apparent today.15Yet the LORD set his heart in love on your fathers and chose their offspring after them, you above all peoples, as you are this day.
Therefore, cleanse your heart and stop being so stubborn!16Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no longer stubborn.
For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, mighty, and awesome God who is unbiased and takes no bribe,17For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God, who is not partial and takes no bribe.
who justly treats the orphan and widow, and who loves resident foreigners, giving them food and clothing.18He executes justice for the fatherless and the widow, and loves the sojourner, giving him food and clothing.
So you must love the resident foreigner because you were foreigners in the land of Egypt.19Love the sojourner, therefore, for you were sojourners in the land of Egypt.
Revere the LORD your God, serve him, be loyal to him and take oaths only in his name.20You shall fear the LORD your God. You shall serve him and hold fast to him, and by his name you shall swear.
He is the one you should praise; he is your God, the one who has done these great and awesome things for you that you have seen.21He is your praise. He is your God, who has done for you these great and terrifying things that your eyes have seen.
When your ancestors went down to Egypt, they numbered only seventy, but now the LORD your God has made you as numerous as the stars of the sky. 22Your fathers went down to Egypt seventy persons, and now the LORD your God has made you as numerous as the stars of heaven.
