1Then Moses and the elders of Israel commanded the people: "Pay attention to all the commandments I am giving you today. | 1Moses and the elders of Israel commanded the people, "Keep every command I am giving you today. |
2When you cross the Jordan River to the land the LORD your God is giving you, you must erect great stones and cover them with plaster. | 2When you cross the Jordan into the land the LORD your God is giving you, set up large stones and cover them with plaster. |
3Then you must inscribe on them all the words of this law when you cross over, so that you may enter the land the LORD your God is giving you, a land flowing with milk and honey just as the LORD, the God of your ancestors, said to you. | 3Write all the words of this law on the stones after you cross to enter the land the LORD your God is giving you, a land flowing with milk and honey, as the LORD, the God of your fathers, has promised you. |
4So when you cross the Jordan you must erect on Mount Ebal these stones about which I am commanding you today, and you must cover them with plaster. | 4When you have crossed the Jordan, you are to set up these stones on Mount Ebal, as I am commanding you today, and you are to cover them with plaster. |

7Also you must offer fellowship offerings and eat them there, rejoicing before the LORD your God. | 7There you are to sacrifice fellowship offerings, eat, and rejoice in the presence of the LORD your God. |
8You must inscribe on the stones all the words of this law, making them clear." | 8Write clearly all the words of this law on the plastered stones." |
9Then Moses and the Levitical priests spoke to all Israel: "Be quiet and pay attention, Israel. Today you have become the people of the LORD your God. | 9Moses and the Levitical priests spoke to all Israel, "Be silent, Israel, and listen! This day you have become the people of the LORD your God. |

12"The following tribes must stand to bless the people on Mount Gerizim when you cross the Jordan: Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Joseph, and Benjamin. | 12"When you have crossed the Jordan, these tribes will stand on Mount Gerizim to bless the people: Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Joseph, and Benjamin. |

15Cursed is the one who makes a carved or metal image--something abhorrent to the LORD, the work of the craftsman--and sets it up in a secret place.' Then all the people will say, 'Amen!' | 15'The person who makes a carved idol or cast image, which is detestable to the LORD, the work of a craftsman, and sets it up in secret is cursed.' And all the people will reply, 'Amen!' |
16Cursed is the one who disrespects his father and mother.' Then all the people will say, 'Amen!' | 16'The one who dishonors his father or mother is cursed.' And all the people will say, 'Amen!' |

19Cursed is the one who perverts justice for the resident foreigner, the orphan, and the widow.' Then all the people will say, 'Amen!' | 19'The one who denies justice to a resident alien, a fatherless child, or a widow is cursed.' And all the people will say, 'Amen!' |
20Cursed is the one who has sexual relations with his father's former wife, for he dishonors his father.' Then all the people will say, 'Amen!' | 20'The one who sleeps with his father's wife is cursed, for he has violated his father's marriage bed.' And all the people will say, 'Amen!' |

26Cursed is the one who refuses to keep the words of this law.' Then all the people will say, 'Amen!' | 26'Anyone who does not put the words of this law into practice is cursed.' And all the people will say, 'Amen!' |
