A Psalm of David. Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. | 1Bless the LORD, my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name. |
Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: | 2Bless the LORD, my soul, and never forget any of his benefits: |
Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; | 3He continues to forgive all your sins, he continues to heal all your diseases, |
Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; | 4he continues to redeem your life from the Pit, and he continuously surrounds you with gracious love and compassion. |
Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's. | 5He keeps satisfying you with good things, and he keeps renewing your youth like the eagle's. |
The LORD executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed. | 6The LORD continuously does what is right, executing justice for all who are being oppressed. |
He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel. | 7He revealed his plans to Moses and his deeds to the people of Israel. |
The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. | 8The LORD is compassionate and gracious, patient, and abundantly rich in gracious love. |
He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever. | 9He does not maintain a dispute continuously or remain angry for all time. |
He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. | 10He neither deals with us according to our sins, nor repays us equivalent to our iniquity. |
For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. | 11As high as heaven rises above earth, so his gracious love strengthens those who fear him. |
As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. | 12As distant as the east is from the west, that is how far he has removed our sins from us. |
Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him. | 13As a father has compassion for his children, so the LORD has compassion for those who fear him. |
For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust. | 14For he knows how we were formed, aware that we were made from dust. |
As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth. | 15A person's life is like grass— it blossoms like wild flowers, |
For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more. | 16but when the wind blows through it, it withers away and no one remembers where it was. |
But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children; | 17Yet the LORD's gracious love remains throughout eternity for those who fear him and his righteous acts extend to their children's children, |
To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them. | 18to those who keep his covenant and to those who remember to observe his precepts. |
The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all. | 19The LORD has established his throne in heaven and his kingdom rules over all. |
Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word. | 20Bless the LORD, you angels who belong to him, you mighty warriors who carry out his commands, who are obedient to the sound of his words. |
Bless ye the LORD, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure. | 21Bless the LORD, all his heavenly armies, his ministers who do his will. |
Bless the LORD, all his works in all places of his dominion: bless the LORD, O my soul. | 22Bless the LORD, all his creation, in all the places of his dominion. Bless the LORD, my soul. |
