Psalm 77
ISV Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
International Standard VersionNew Living Translation
I cry out to God! I cry out to God and he hears me.1I cry out to God; yes, I shout. Oh, that God would listen to me!
When I was in distress, I sought the Lord; my hands were raised at night and they did not grow weary. I refused to be comforted.2When I was in deep trouble, I searched for the Lord. All night long I prayed, with hands lifted toward heaven, but my soul was not comforted.
I remember God, and I groan; I meditate, while my spirit grows faint. Interlude3I think of God, and I moan, overwhelmed with longing for his help. Interlude
You kept my eyes open; I was troubled and couldn't speak.4You don’t let me sleep. I am too distressed even to pray!
I thought of ancient times, considering years long past.5I think of the good old days, long since ended,
During the night I remembered my song. I meditate in my heart, and my spirit ponders.6when my nights were filled with joyful songs. I search my soul and ponder the difference now.
Will the Lord reject me forever and not show favor again?7Has the Lord rejected me forever? Will he never again be kind to me?
Has his gracious love ceased forever? Will his promise be unfulfilled in future generations?8Is his unfailing love gone forever? Have his promises permanently failed?
Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has he in anger withheld his compassion? Interlude9Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has he slammed the door on his compassion? Interlude
So I say: "It causes me pain that the right hand of the Most High has changed."10And I said, “This is my fate; the Most High has turned his hand against me.”
I will remember the LORD'S deeds; indeed, I will remember your awesome deeds from long ago.11But then I recall all you have done, O LORD; I remember your wonderful deeds of long ago.
As I meditate on all your works, I will consider your awesome deeds.12They are constantly in my thoughts. I cannot stop thinking about your mighty works.
God, your way is holy. What god is like our great God?13O God, your ways are holy. Is there any god as mighty as you?
God, you are the one performing awesome deeds. You reveal your might among the nations.14You are the God of great wonders! You demonstrate your awesome power among the nations.
You delivered your people— the descendants of Jacob and Joseph— with your power. Interlude15By your strong arm, you redeemed your people, the descendants of Jacob and Joseph. Interlude
The waters saw you, God; the waters saw you and writhed. Indeed, the depths of the sea quaked.16When the Red Sea saw you, O God, its waters looked and trembled! The sea quaked to its very depths.
The clouds poured rain; the skies rumbled. Indeed, your lightning bolts flashed. 17The clouds poured down rain; the thunder rumbled in the sky. Your arrows of lightning flashed.
Your thunderous sound was in a whirlwind; your lightning lights up the world; the earth becomes agitated and quakes.18Your thunder roared from the whirlwind; the lightning lit up the world! The earth trembled and shook.
Your way was through the sea, and your path through mighty waters, but your footprints cannot be traced. 19Your road led through the sea, your pathway through the mighty waters— a pathway no one knew was there!
You have led your people like a flock by the hands of Moses and Aaron.20You led your people along that road like a flock of sheep, with Moses and Aaron as their shepherds.
