Psalm 83
ISV Parallel CSB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
International Standard VersionChristian Standard Bible
God, do not rest! Don't be silent! Don't stay inactive, God!1God, do not keep silent. Do not be deaf, God; do not be quiet.
See! Your enemies rage; those who hate you issue threats. 2See how your enemies make an uproar; those who hate you have acted arrogantly.
They plot against your people and conspire against your cherished ones.3They devise clever schemes against your people; they conspire against your treasured ones.
They say, "Let us go and erase them as a nation so the name of Israel will not be remembered anymore."4They say, "Come, let us wipe them out as a nation so that Israel's name will no longer be remembered."
Indeed, they shrewdly planned together, forming an alliance against you—5For they have conspired with one mind; they form an alliance against you--
the tents of Edom, the Ishmaelites, Moab, the Hagrites,6the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagrites,
Gebal, Ammon, Amalek, Philistia, and the inhabitants of Tyre.7Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek, Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre.
Even Assyria joined them to strengthen the descendants of Lot. Interlude8Even Assyria has joined them; they lend support to the sons of Lot. Selah
Deal with them as you did to Midian, Sisera, and Jabin at the Kishon Brook. 9Deal with them as you did with Midian, as you did with Sisera and Jabin at the Kishon River.
They were destroyed at En-dor and became as dung on the ground.10They were destroyed at En-dor; they became manure for the ground.
Punish their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, and all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna, 11Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, and all their tribal leaders like Zebah and Zalmunna,
who said, "Let us possess the pastures of God."12who said, "Let us seize God's pastures for ourselves."
God, set them up like dried thistles, like straw before the wind.13Make them like tumbleweed, my God, like straw before the wind.
Like a fire burning a forest, and a flame setting mountains ablaze.14As fire burns a forest, as a flame blazes through mountains,
Pursue them with your storm and terrify them with your whirlwind.15so pursue them with your tempest and terrify them with your storm.
Fill their faces with shame until they seek your name, God.16Cover their faces with shame so that they will seek your name, LORD.
Let them be humiliated and terrified permanently until they die in shame. 17Let them be put to shame and terrified forever; let them perish in disgrace.
Then they will know that you alone— whose name is LORD— are the Most High over all the earth.18May they know that you alone--whose name is the LORD--are the Most High over the whole earth.
