For the choir director: according to Jeduthun. Of Asaph. A psalm. I cry aloud to God, aloud to God, and He will hear me. 1For the choir director; according to Jeduthun. A Psalm of Asaph. My voice rises to God, and I will cry aloud; My voice rises to God, and He will hear me.
I sought the Lord in my day of trouble. My hands were continually lifted up all night long; I refused to be comforted. 2In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord; In the night my hand was stretched out without weariness; My soul refused to be comforted.
I think of God; I groan; I meditate; my spirit becomes weak. Selah 3When I remember God, then I am disturbed; When I sigh, then my spirit grows faint. Selah.
You have kept me from closing my eyes; I am troubled and cannot speak. 4You have held my eyelids open; I am so troubled that I cannot speak.
I consider days of old, years long past. 5I have considered the days of old, The years of long ago.
At night I remember my music; I meditate in my heart, and my spirit ponders." 6I will remember my song in the night; I will meditate with my heart, And my spirit ponders:
Will the Lord reject forever and never again show favor? 7Will the Lord reject forever? And will He never be favorable again?
Has His faithful love ceased forever? Is His promise at an end for all generations? 8Has His lovingkindness ceased forever? Has His promise come to an end forever?
Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has He in anger withheld His compassion?" Selah 9Has God forgotten to be gracious, Or has He in anger withdrawn His compassion? Selah.
So I say, "I am grieved that the right hand of the Most High has changed." 10Then I said, "It is my grief, That the right hand of the Most High has changed."
I will remember the LORD's works; yes, I will remember Your ancient wonders. 11I shall remember the deeds of the LORD; Surely I will remember Your wonders of old.
I will reflect on all You have done and meditate on Your actions. 12I will meditate on all Your work And muse on Your deeds.
God, Your way is holy. What god is great like God? 13Your way, O God, is holy; What god is great like our God?
You are the God who works wonders; You revealed Your strength among the peoples. 14You are the God who works wonders; You have made known Your strength among the peoples.
With power You redeemed Your people, the descendants of Jacob and Joseph. Selah 15You have by Your power redeemed Your people, The sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.
The waters saw You, God. The waters saw You; they trembled. Even the depths shook. 16The waters saw You, O God; The waters saw You, they were in anguish; The deeps also trembled.
The clouds poured down water. The storm clouds thundered; Your arrows flashed back and forth. 17The clouds poured out water; The skies gave forth a sound; Your arrows flashed here and there.
The sound of Your thunder was in the whirlwind; lightning lit up the world. The earth shook and quaked. 18The sound of Your thunder was in the whirlwind; The lightnings lit up the world; The earth trembled and shook.
Your way went through the sea and Your path through the great waters, but Your footprints were unseen. 19Your way was in the sea And Your paths in the mighty waters, And Your footprints may not be known.
You led Your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron. 20You led Your people like a flock By the hand of Moses and Aaron.
