For the choir director: according to Jeduthun. Of Asaph. A psalm. I cry aloud to God, aloud to God, and He will hear me. | 1For the choir director; according to Jeduthun. A Psalm of Asaph. My voice rises to God, and I will cry aloud; My voice rises to God, and He will hear me. |
I sought the Lord in my day of trouble. My hands were continually lifted up all night long; I refused to be comforted. | 2In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord; In the night my hand was stretched out without weariness; My soul refused to be comforted. |
I think of God; I groan; I meditate; my spirit becomes weak. Selah | 3When I remember God, then I am disturbed; When I sigh, then my spirit grows faint. Selah. |
You have kept me from closing my eyes; I am troubled and cannot speak. | 4You have held my eyelids open; I am so troubled that I cannot speak. |
I consider days of old, years long past. | 5I have considered the days of old, The years of long ago. |
At night I remember my music; I meditate in my heart, and my spirit ponders." | 6I will remember my song in the night; I will meditate with my heart, And my spirit ponders: |
Will the Lord reject forever and never again show favor? | 7Will the Lord reject forever? And will He never be favorable again? |
Has His faithful love ceased forever? Is His promise at an end for all generations? | 8Has His lovingkindness ceased forever? Has His promise come to an end forever? |
Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has He in anger withheld His compassion?" Selah | 9Has God forgotten to be gracious, Or has He in anger withdrawn His compassion? Selah. |
So I say, "I am grieved that the right hand of the Most High has changed." | 10Then I said, "It is my grief, That the right hand of the Most High has changed." |
I will remember the LORD's works; yes, I will remember Your ancient wonders. | 11I shall remember the deeds of the LORD; Surely I will remember Your wonders of old. |
I will reflect on all You have done and meditate on Your actions. | 12I will meditate on all Your work And muse on Your deeds. |
God, Your way is holy. What god is great like God? | 13Your way, O God, is holy; What god is great like our God? |
You are the God who works wonders; You revealed Your strength among the peoples. | 14You are the God who works wonders; You have made known Your strength among the peoples. |
With power You redeemed Your people, the descendants of Jacob and Joseph. Selah | 15You have by Your power redeemed Your people, The sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah. |
The waters saw You, God. The waters saw You; they trembled. Even the depths shook. | 16The waters saw You, O God; The waters saw You, they were in anguish; The deeps also trembled. |
The clouds poured down water. The storm clouds thundered; Your arrows flashed back and forth. | 17The clouds poured out water; The skies gave forth a sound; Your arrows flashed here and there. |
The sound of Your thunder was in the whirlwind; lightning lit up the world. The earth shook and quaked. | 18The sound of Your thunder was in the whirlwind; The lightnings lit up the world; The earth trembled and shook. |
Your way went through the sea and Your path through the great waters, but Your footprints were unseen. | 19Your way was in the sea And Your paths in the mighty waters, And Your footprints may not be known. |
You led Your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron. | 20You led Your people like a flock By the hand of Moses and Aaron. |
