Psalm 60
ESV Parallel KJV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
English Standard VersionKing James Bible
O God, you have rejected us, broken our defenses; you have been angry; oh, restore us.1To the chief Musician upon Shushaneduth, Michtam of David, to teach; when he strove with Aramnaharaim and with Aramzobah, when Joab returned, and smote of Edom in the valley of salt twelve thousand. O God, thou hast cast us off, thou hast scattered us, thou hast been displeased; O turn thyself to us again.
You have made the land to quake; you have torn it open; repair its breaches, for it totters.2Thou hast made the earth to tremble; thou hast broken it: heal the breaches thereof; for it shaketh.
You have made your people see hard things; you have given us wine to drink that made us stagger.3Thou hast shewed thy people hard things: thou hast made us to drink the wine of astonishment.
You have set up a banner for those who fear you, that they may flee to it from the bow. Selah4Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah.
That your beloved ones may be delivered, give salvation by your right hand and answer us!5That thy beloved may be delivered; save with thy right hand, and hear me.
God has spoken in his holiness: “With exultation I will divide up Shechem and portion out the Vale of Succoth.6God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.
Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine; Ephraim is my helmet; Judah is my scepter.7Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the strength of mine head; Judah is my lawgiver;
Moab is my washbasin; upon Edom I cast my shoe; over Philistia I shout in triumph.”8Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe: Philistia, triumph thou because of me.
Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom?9Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom?
Have you not rejected us, O God? You do not go forth, O God, with our armies.10Wilt not thou, O God, which hadst cast us off? and thou, O God, which didst not go out with our armies?
Oh, grant us help against the foe, for vain is the salvation of man!11Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.
With God we shall do valiantly; it is he who will tread down our foes.12Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.
