Therefore, my brothers, whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm thus in the Lord, my beloved. | 1Therefore, my brothers, whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, that is how you must stand firm in the Lord, my beloved. |
I entreat Euodia and I entreat Syntyche to agree in the Lord. | 2I urge Euodia and Syntyche to agree with each other in the Lord. |
Yes, I ask you also, true companion, help these women, who have labored side by side with me in the gospel together with Clement and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life. | 3Yes, and I ask you, my true yokefellow, to help these women who have labored with me for the gospel, along with Clement and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the Book of Life. |
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. | 4Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! |
Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; | 5Let your gentleness be apparent to all. The Lord is near. |
do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. | 6Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. |
And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. | 7And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. |
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. | 8Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think on these things. |
What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. | 9Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me, put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you. |
I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at length you have revived your concern for me. You were indeed concerned for me, but you had no opportunity. | 10Now I rejoice greatly in the Lord that at last you have revived your concern for me. You were indeed concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it. |
Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. | 11I am not saying this out of need, for I have learned to be content regardless of my circumstances. |
I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. | 12I know how to live humbly, and I know how to abound. I am accustomed to any and every situation—to being filled and being hungry, to having plenty and having need. |
I can do all things through him who strengthens me. | 13I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. |
Yet it was kind of you to share my trouble. | 14Nevertheless, you have done well to share in my affliction. |
And you Philippians yourselves know that in the beginning of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, no church entered into partnership with me in giving and receiving, except you only. | 15And as you Philippians know, in the early days of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, no church but you partnered with me in the matter of giving and receiving. |
Even in Thessalonica you sent me help for my needs once and again. | 16For even while I was in Thessalonica, you provided for my needs again and again. |
Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that increases to your credit. | 17Not that I am seeking a gift, but I am looking for the fruit that may be credited to your account. |
I have received full payment, and more. I am well supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God. | 18I have all I need and more, now that I have received your gifts from Epaphroditus. They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, well-pleasing to God. |
And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. | 19And my God will supply all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus. |
To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen. | 20To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen. |
Greet every saint in Christ Jesus. The brothers who are with me greet you. | 21Greet all the saints in Christ Jesus. The brothers who are with me send you greetings. |
All the saints greet you, especially those of Caesar’s household. | 22All the saints send you greetings, especially those from the household of Caesar. |
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. | 23The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. |
