Simeon’s Inheritance

1  וַיֵּצֵ֞א (And came out) הַגּוֹרָ֤ל (the lot) הַשֵּׁנִי֙ (second) לְשִׁמְע֔וֹן (for Simeon), לְמַטֵּ֥ה (for the tribe) בְנֵֽי־ (of the sons) שִׁמְע֖וֹן (of Simeon) לְמִשְׁפְּחוֹתָ֑ם (by their clans).

וַֽיְהִי֙ (And was) נַֽחֲלָתָ֔ם (their inheritance) בְּת֖וֹךְ (in the midst) נַחֲלַ֥ת (of the inheritance) בְּנֵֽי־ (of the sons) יְהוּדָֽה׃ (of Judah). 2  וַיְהִ֥י (And was) לָהֶ֖ם (to them) בְּנַֽחֲלָתָ֑ם (in their inheritance) בְּאֵֽר־ (Beer-) שֶׁ֥בַע (sheba), וְשֶׁ֖בַע (and Sheba), וּמוֹלָדָֽה׃ (and Moladah), 3  וַחֲצַ֥ר (and Hazar-) שׁוּעָ֛ל (shual), וּבָלָ֖ה (and Balah), וָעָֽצֶם׃ (and Ezem), 4  וְאֶלְתּוֹלַ֥ד (and Eltolad), וּבְת֖וּל (and Bethul), וְחָרְמָֽה׃ (and Hormah), 5  וְצִֽקְלַ֥ג (and Ziklag), וּבֵית־ (and Beth-) הַמַּרְכָּב֖וֹת (marcaboth), וַחֲצַ֥ר (and Hazar-) סוּסָֽה׃ (susah), 6  וּבֵ֥ית (and Beth-) לְבָא֖וֹת (lebaoth), וְשָֽׁרוּחֶ֑ן (and Sharuhen)— עָרִ֥ים (cities) שְׁלֹשׁ־ (three) עֶשְׂרֵ֖ה (and ten), וְחַצְרֵיהֶֽן׃ (and their villages).

7  עַ֥יִן׀ (Ain), רִמּ֖וֹן (Rimmon), וָעֶ֣תֶר (and Ether), וְעָשָׁ֑ן (and Ashan)— עָרִ֥ים (cities) אַרְבַּ֖ע (four) וְחַצְרֵיהֶֽן׃ (and their villages), 8  וְכָל־ (and all) הַֽחֲצֵרִ֗ים (the villages) אֲשֶׁ֤ר (that were) סְבִיבוֹת֙ (all around) הֶֽעָרִ֣ים (the cities) הָאֵ֔לֶּה (these) עַד־ (as far as) בַּֽעֲלַ֥ת (Baalath-) בְּאֵ֖ר (beer) רָ֣אמַת (Ramah) נֶ֑גֶב (of the Negev))

זֹ֗את (this was) נַחֲלַ֛ת (the inheritance) מַטֵּ֥ה (of the tribe) בְנֵֽי־ (of the sons) שִׁמְע֖וֹן (of Simeon) לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָֽם׃ (by their clans). 9  מֵחֶ֙בֶל֙ (From the portion) בְּנֵ֣י (of the sons) יְהוּדָ֔ה (of Judah) נַחֲלַ֖ת (was the inheritance) בְּנֵ֣י (of the sons) שִׁמְע֑וֹן (of Simeon), כִּֽי־ (for) הָיָ֞ה (was) חֵ֤לֶק (the portion) בְּנֵֽי־ (of the sons) יְהוּדָה֙ (of Judah) רַ֣ב (too much) מֵהֶ֔ם (for them). וַיִּנְחֲל֥וּ (And inherited) בְנֵֽי־ (the sons) שִׁמְע֖וֹן (of Simeon) בְּת֥וֹךְ (in the midst) נַחֲלָתָֽם׃פ (of their inheritance).

Zebulun’s Inheritance

10  וַיַּ֙עַל֙ (And came up) הַגּוֹרָ֣ל (the lot) הַשְּׁלִישִׁ֔י (third) לִבְנֵ֥י (for the sons) זְבוּלֻ֖ן (of Zebulun) לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָ֑ם (by their clans).

וַיְהִ֛י (And was) גְּב֥וּל (the border) נַחֲלָתָ֖ם (of their inheritance) עַד־ (as far as) שָׂרִֽיד׃ (Sarid). 11  וְעָלָ֨ה (And went) גְבוּלָ֧ם׀ (their border) לַיָּ֛מָּה (toward the west), וּמַרְעֲלָ֖ה (and to Maralah), וּפָגַ֣ע (and it went) בְּדַבָּ֑שֶׁת (to Dabbasheth), וּפָגַע֙ (and extended) אֶל־ (along) הַנַּ֔חַל (the brook) אֲשֶׁ֖ר (that is) עַל־ (upon) פְּנֵ֥י (the face) יָקְנְעָֽם׃ (of Jokneam). 12  וְשָׁ֣ב (And it went) מִשָּׂרִ֗יד (from Sarid) קֵ֚דְמָה (eastward) מִזְרַ֣ח (toward the rising) הַשֶּׁ֔מֶשׁ (of the sun) עַל־ (along) גְּב֥וּל (the border) כִּסְלֹ֖ת (of Chisloth-) תָּבֹ֑ר (tabor), וְיָצָ֥א (and it went out) אֶל־ (toward) הַדָּֽבְרַ֖ת (Daberath), וְעָלָ֥ה (and went up) יָפִֽיעַ׃ (to Japhia), 13  וּמִשָּׁ֤ם (and from there) עָבַר֙ (it passed over) קֵ֣דְמָה (eastward) מִזְרָ֔חָה (to the east) גִּתָּ֥ה (to Gath-) חֵ֖פֶר (hepher), עִתָּ֣ה (and to Eth-) קָצִ֑ין (kazin), וְיָצָ֛א (and extended) רִמּ֥וֹן (to Rimmon) הַמְּתֹאָ֖ר (and curved) הַנֵּעָֽה׃ (to Neah); 14  וְנָסַ֤ב (and went around) אֹתוֹ֙ (it) הַגְּב֔וּל (the border) מִצְּפ֖וֹן (on the north side) חַנָּתֹ֑ן (of Hannathon), וְהָיוּ֙ (and was) תֹּֽצְאֹתָ֔יו (its outgoing) גֵּ֖י (in the Valley) יִפְתַּח־ (of Iphtah-) אֵֽל׃ (el), 15  וְקַטָּ֤ת (and Kattath), וְנַֽהֲלָל֙ (and Nahalal), וְשִׁמְר֔וֹן (and Shimron), וְיִדְאֲלָ֖ה (and Idalah), וּבֵ֣ית (and Beth-) לָ֑חֶם (lehem)— עָרִ֥ים (cities) שְׁתֵּים־ (two) עֶשְׂרֵ֖ה (and ten), וְחַצְרֵיהֶֽן׃ (and their villages).

16  זֹ֛את (This was) נַחֲלַ֥ת (the inheritance) בְּנֵֽי־ (of the sons) זְבוּלֻ֖ן (of Zebulun) לְמִשְׁפְּחוֹתָ֑ם (by their clans), הֶֽעָרִ֥ים (cities) הָאֵ֖לֶּה (these) וְחַצְרֵיהֶֽן׃פ (and their villages).

Issachar’s Inheritance

17  לְיִ֨שָּׂשכָ֔ר (To Issachar) יָצָ֖א (came out) הַגּוֹרָ֣ל (the lot) הָֽרְבִיעִ֑י (fourth) לִבְנֵ֥י (for the sons) יִשָּׂשכָ֖ר (of Issachar) לְמִשְׁפְּחוֹתָֽם׃ (by their clans):

18  וַיְהִ֖י (And went) גְּבוּלָ֑ם (their territory) יִזְרְעֶ֥אלָה (to Jezreel), וְהַכְּסוּלֹ֖ת (and Chesulloth), וְשׁוּנֵֽם׃ (and Shunem), 19  וַחֲפָרַ֥יִם (and Haphraim), וְשִׁיאֹ֖ן (and Shion), וַאֲנָחֲרַֽת׃ (and Anaharath), 20  וְהָֽרַבִּ֥ית (and Rabbith), וְקִשְׁי֖וֹן (and Kishion), וָאָֽבֶץ׃ (and Ebe z), 21  וְרֶ֧מֶת (and Remeth), וְעֵין־ (and En-) גַּנִּ֛ים (gannim), וְעֵ֥ין (and En-) חַדָּ֖ה (haddah), וּבֵ֥ית (and Beth-) פַּצֵּֽץ׃ (pazzez). 22  וּפָגַע֩ (And reached) הַגְּב֨וּל (the border) בְּתָב֤וֹר (to Tabor), וְשַׁחֲצוּמָה (and Shahazimah), וּבֵ֣ית (and Beth-) שֶׁ֔מֶשׁ (shemesh), וְהָי֛וּ (and) תֹּצְא֥וֹת (ended) גְּבוּלָ֖ם (their border) הַיַּרְדֵּ֑ן (at the Jordan)— עָרִ֥ים (cities) שֵׁשׁ־ (six) עֶשְׂרֵ֖ה (and ten), וְחַצְרֵיהֶֽן׃ (and their villages).

23  זֹ֗את (This was) נַחֲלַ֛ת (the inheritance) מַטֵּ֥ה (of the tribe) בְנֵֽי־ (of the sons) יִשָּׂשכָ֖ר (of Issachar) לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָ֑ם (by their clans)— הֶעָרִ֖ים (the cities) וְחַצְרֵיהֶֽן׃פ (and their villages).

Asher’s Inheritance

24  וַיֵּצֵא֙ (And came out) הַגּוֹרָ֣ל (the lot) הַֽחֲמִישִׁ֔י (fifth) לְמַטֵּ֥ה (for the tribe) בְנֵֽי־ (of the sons) אָשֵׁ֖ר (of Asher) לְמִשְׁפְּחוֹתָֽם׃ (by their clans).

25  וַיְהִ֖י (And included) גְּבוּלָ֑ם (their territory) חֶלְקַ֥ת (Helkath), וַחֲלִ֖י (and Hali), וָבֶ֥טֶן (and Beten), וְאַכְשָֽׁף׃ (and Achshaph), 26  וְאַֽלַמֶּ֥לֶךְ (and Allammelech), וְעַמְעָ֖ד (and Amad), וּמִשְׁאָ֑ל (and Mishal); וּפָגַ֤ע (and it reached) בְּכַרְמֶל֙ (to Carmel) הַיָּ֔מָּה (westward), וּבְשִׁיח֖וֹר (and to Shihor-) לִבְנָֽת׃ (and libnath); 27  וְשָׁ֨ב (and it turned) מִזְרַ֣ח (eastward) הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ֮ (toward the sunrise) בֵּ֣ית (to Beth-) דָּגֹן֒ (dagon), וּפָגַ֣ע (and it reached) בִּ֠זְבֻלוּן (to Zebulun), וּבְגֵ֨י (and to the Valley) יִפְתַּח־ (of Iphtah-) אֵ֥ל (el) צָפ֛וֹנָה (and went north) בֵּ֥ית (to Beth-) הָעֵ֖מֶק (emek) וּנְעִיאֵ֑ל (and Neiel), וְיָצָ֥א (and it went out) אֶל־ (to) כָּב֖וּל (Cabul) מִשְּׂמֹֽאל׃ (on the left), 28  וְעֶבְרֹ֥ן (and Ebron), וּרְחֹ֖ב (and Rehob), וְחַמּ֣וֹן (and Hammon), וְקָנָ֑ה (and Kanah), עַ֖ד (as far as) צִיד֥וֹן (Sidon) רַבָּֽה׃ (Greater). 29  וְשָׁ֤ב (And turned) הַגְּבוּל֙ (the border) הָֽרָמָ֔ה (to Ramah), וְעַד־ (and to) עִ֖יר (the city) מִבְצַר־ (fortified) צֹ֑ר (Tyre). וְשָׁ֤ב (And turned) הַגְּבוּל֙ (the border) חֹסָ֔ה (to Hosah) וְיִהְיוּ (and were) תֹצְאֹתָ֛יו (its outgoings) הַיָּ֖מָּה (at the sea) מֵחֶ֥בֶל (by the region) אַכְזִֽיבָה׃ (of Achzib). 30  וְעֻמָ֥ה (And Ummah), וַאֲפֵ֖ק (and Aphek), וּרְחֹ֑ב (and Rehob)— עָרִ֛ים (cities) עֶשְׂרִ֥ים (twenty) וּשְׁתַּ֖יִם (and two), וְחַצְרֵיהֶֽן׃ (and their villages).

31  זֹ֗את (This was) נַחֲלַ֛ת (the inheritance) מַטֵּ֥ה (of the tribe) בְנֵֽי־ (of the sons) אָשֵׁ֖ר (of Asher) לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָ֑ם (by their clans)— הֶעָרִ֥ים (cities) הָאֵ֖לֶּה (these) וְחַצְרֵיהֶֽן׃פ (and their villages).

Naphtali’s Inheritance

32  לִבְנֵ֣י (To the sons) נַפְתָּלִ֔י (of Naphtali) יָצָ֖א (came out) הַגּוֹרָ֣ל (the lot) הַשִּׁשִּׁ֑י (sixth) לִבְנֵ֥י (for the sons) נַפְתָּלִ֖י (of Naphtali) לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָֽם׃ (by their clans).

33  וַיְהִ֣י (And began) גְבוּלָ֗ם (their border) מֵחֵ֨לֶף (at Heleph) מֵֽאֵל֜וֹן (from the great tree) בְּצַעֲנַנִּ֗ים (in Zaanannim), וַאֲדָמִ֥י (and Adami-) הַנֶּ֛קֶב (nekeb), וְיַבְנְאֵ֖ל (and Jabneel), עַד־ (as far as) לַקּ֑וּם (Lakkum); וַיְהִ֥י (and were) תֹצְאֹתָ֖יו (its outgoings) הַיַּרְדֵּֽן׃ (at the Jordan). 34  וְשָׁ֨ב (And turned back) הַגְּב֥וּל (the border) יָ֙מָּה֙ (westward) אַזְנ֣וֹת (to Aznoth-) תָּב֔וֹר (tabor) וְיָצָ֥א (and went out) מִשָּׁ֖ם (from there) חוּקֹ֑קָה (to Hukkok), וּפָגַ֨ע (and it met) בִּזְבֻל֜וּן (with Zebulun) מִנֶּ֗גֶב (on the south side), וּבְאָשֵׁר֙ (and Asher) פָּגַ֣ע (it met with) מִיָּ֔ם (on the west), וּבִ֣יהוּדָ֔ה (and ended at Judah) הַיַּרְדֵּ֖ן (by the Jordan) מִזְרַ֥ח (toward the rising) הַשָּֽׁמֶשׁ׃ (of the sun). 35  וְעָרֵ֖י (And the cities) מִבְצָ֑ר (fortified were) הַצִּדִּ֣ים (Ziddim), צֵ֔ר (Zer), וְחַמַּ֖ת (and Hammath), רַקַּ֥ת (Rakkath), וְכִנָּֽרֶת׃ (and Chinnereth), 36  וַאֲדָמָ֥ה (and Adamah), וְהָרָמָ֖ה (and Ramah), וְחָצֽוֹר׃ (and Hazor), 37  וְקֶ֥דֶשׁ (and Kedesh), וְאֶדְרֶ֖עִי (and Edrei), וְעֵ֥ין (and En-) חָצֽוֹר׃ (hazor), 38  וְיִרְאוֹן֙ (and Iron), וּמִגְדַּל־ (and Migdal-) אֵ֔ל (el), חֳרֵ֥ם (Horem), וּבֵית־ (and Beth-) עֲנָ֖ת (and anath), וּבֵ֣ית (and Beth-) שָׁ֑מֶשׁ (shemesh)— עָרִ֥ים (cities) תְּשַֽׁע־ (nine) עֶשְׂרֵ֖ה (and ten), וְחַצְרֵיהֶֽן׃ (and their villages).

39  זֹ֗את (This was) נַחֲלַ֛ת (the inheritance) מַטֵּ֥ה (of the tribe) בְנֵֽי־ (of the sons) נַפְתָּלִ֖י (of Naphtali) לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָ֑ם (by their clans)— הֶעָרִ֖ים (the cities) וְחַצְרֵיהֶֽן׃פ (and their villages).

Dan’s Inheritance

40  לְמַטֵּ֥ה (For the tribe) בְנֵי־ (of the sons) דָ֖ן (of Dan) לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָ֑ם (by their clans) יָצָ֖א (came out) הַגּוֹרָ֥ל (the lot) הַשְּׁבִיעִֽי׃ (seventh).

41  וַיְהִ֖י (And was) גְּב֣וּל (the territory) נַחֲלָתָ֑ם (of their inheritance) צָרְעָ֥ה (Zorah), וְאֶשְׁתָּא֖וֹל (and Eshtaol), וְעִ֥יר (and Ir-) שָֽׁמֶשׁ׃ (shemesh), 42  וְשַֽׁעֲלַבִּ֥ין (and Shaalabbin), וְאַיָּל֖וֹן (and Aijalon), וְיִתְלָֽה׃ (and Jethlah), 43  וְאֵיל֥וֹן (and Elon), וְתִמְנָ֖תָה (and Timnah), וְעֶקְרֽוֹן׃ (and Ekron), 44  וְאֶלְתְּקֵ֥ה (and Eltekeh), וְגִבְּת֖וֹן (and Gibbethon), וּבַעֲלָֽת׃ (and Baalath), 45  וִיהֻ֥ד (and Jehud), וּבְנֵֽי־ (and Bene-) בְרַ֖ק (berak), וְגַת־ (and Gath-) רִמּֽוֹן׃ (and rimmon), 46  וּמֵ֥י (and Me-) הַיַּרְק֖וֹן (and jarkon), וְהָֽרַקּ֑וֹן (and Rakkon), עִֽם־ (with) הַגְּב֖וּל (the region) מ֥וּל (across from) יָפֽוֹ׃ (Joppa).

47  וַיֵּצֵ֥א (And went) גְבוּל־ (the border) בְּנֵי־ (of the sons) דָ֖ן (of Dan) מֵהֶ֑ם (beyond these), וַיַּעֲל֣וּ (and went up) בְנֵֽי־ (the sons) דָ֠ן (of Dan) וַיִּלָּחֲמ֨וּ (and fought) עִם־ (with) לֶ֜שֶׁם (Leshem), וַיִּלְכְּד֥וּ (and the took) אוֹתָ֣הּ׀ (it) וַיַּכּ֧וּ (and they struck) אוֹתָ֣הּ (it) לְפִי־ (with the mouth) חֶ֗רֶב (of the sword) וַיִּֽרְשׁ֤וּ (and took possession) אוֹתָהּ֙ (of it) וַיֵּ֣שְׁבוּ (and dwelt) בָ֔הּ (in it), וַיִּקְרְא֤וּ (and they called) לְלֶ֙שֶׁם֙ (Leshem) דָּ֔ן (Dan), כְּשֵׁ֖ם (after the name) דָּ֥ן (of Dan) אֲבִיהֶֽם׃ (their father).

48  זֹ֗את (This was) נַחֲלַ֛ת (the inheritance) מַטֵּ֥ה (of the tribe) בְנֵי־ (of the sons) דָ֖ן (of Dan) לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָ֑ם (by their clans)— הֶֽעָרִ֥ים (the cities) הָאֵ֖לֶּה (these) וְחַצְרֵיהֶֽן׃פ (and their villages).

Joshua’s Inheritance

49  וַיְכַלּ֥וּ (And they finished) לִנְחֹל־ (inheriting) אֶת־ (-) הָאָ֖רֶץ (the land) לִגְבֽוּלֹתֶ֑יהָ (according to their borders), וַיִּתְּנ֨וּ (and gave) בְנֵי־ (the sons) יִשְׂרָאֵ֧ל (of Israel) נַחֲלָ֛ה (an inheritance) לִיהוֹשֻׁ֥עַ (to Joshua) בִּן־ (son) נ֖וּן (of Nun) בְּתוֹכָֽם׃ (in their midst). 50  עַל־ (According to) פִּ֨י (the word) יְהוָ֜ה (of YHWH) נָ֣תְנוּ (they gave) ל֗וֹ (to him) אֶת־ (-) הָעִיר֙ (the city) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (that) שָׁאָ֔ל (he requested), אֶת־ (-) תִּמְנַת־ (Timnath-) סֶ֖רַח (serah) בְּהַ֣ר (in the hill country) אֶפְרָ֑יִם (of Ephraim). וַיִּבְנֶ֥ה (And he built) אֶת־ (-) הָעִ֖יר (the city) וַיֵּ֥שֶׁב (and dwelt) בָּֽהּ׃ (in it).

51  אֵ֣לֶּה (These were) הַנְּחָלֹ֡ת (the inheritances), אֲשֶׁ֣ר (that) נִחֲל֣וּ (gave as an inheritance) אֶלְעָזָ֣ר (Eleazar) הַכֹּהֵ֣ן׀ (the priest), וִיהוֹשֻׁ֪עַ (and Joshua) בִּן־ (son) נ֟וּן (of Nun), וְרָאשֵׁ֣י (and the heads) הָֽאָב֣וֹת (of the fathers) לְמַטּוֹת֩ (of the tribes) בְּנֵי־ (of the sons) יִשְׂרָאֵ֨ל׀ (of Israel), בְּגוֹרָ֤ל׀ (by lot) בְּשִׁלֹה֙ (in Shiloh) לִפְנֵ֣י (before the face of) יְהוָ֔ה (YHWH) פֶּ֖תַח (at the door) אֹ֣הֶל (of the Tent) מוֹעֵ֑ד (of Meeting). וַיְכַלּ֕וּ (And they finished) מֵֽחַלֵּ֖ק (dividing) אֶת־ (-) הָאָֽרֶץ׃פ (the land).
