inside the Temple

1  וַיְבִיאֵ֖נִי (And he brought me) אֶל־ (into) הַהֵיכָ֑ל (the sanctuary), וַיָּ֣מָד (and measured) אֶת־ (-) הָאֵילִ֗ים (the doorposts), שֵׁשׁ־ (six) אַמּ֨וֹת (cubits) רֹ֧חַב־ (wide) מִפּ֛וֹ (on this side), וְשֵׁשׁ־ (and six) אַמּֽוֹת־ (cubits) רֹ֥חַב (wide) מִפּ֖וֹ (on this side), רֹ֥חַב (the width) הָאֹֽהֶל׃ (of the tent). 2  וְרֹ֣חַב (And the width) הַפֶּתַח֮ (of the entryway) עֶ֣שֶׂר (was ten) אַמּוֹת֒ (cubits); וְכִתְפ֣וֹת (and the side walls) הַפֶּ֔תַח (of the entrance) חָמֵ֤שׁ (were five) אַמּוֹת֙ (cubits) מִפּ֔וֹ (on this side), וְחָמֵ֥שׁ (and five) אַמּ֖וֹת (cubits) מִפּ֑וֹ (on this side). וַיָּ֤מָד (And he measured) אָרְכּוֹ֙ (its length) אַרְבָּעִ֣ים (forty) אַמָּ֔ה (cubits). וְרֹ֖חַב (And its width), עֶשְׂרִ֥ים (twenty) אַמָּֽה׃ (cubits).

3  וּבָ֣א (And he went) לִפְנִ֔ימָה (inside), וַיָּ֥מָד (and measured) אֵֽיל־ (the post for) הַפֶּ֖תַח (the door), שְׁתַּ֣יִם (two) אַמּ֑וֹת (cubits); וְהַפֶּ֙תַח֙ (and the entrance), שֵׁ֣שׁ (was six) אַמּ֔וֹת (cubits); וְרֹ֥חַב (and the width) הַפֶּ֖תַח (of the entrance was), שֶׁ֥בַע (seven) אַמּֽוֹת׃ (cubits). 4  וַיָּ֨מָד (And he measured) אֶת־ (-) אָרְכּ֜וֹ (the length) עֶשְׂרִ֣ים (twenty) אַמָּ֗ה (cubits); וְרֹ֛חַב (and the width), עֶשְׂרִ֥ים (twenty) אַמָּ֖ה (cubits), אֶל־ (to) פְּנֵ֣י (beyond) הַֽהֵיכָ֑ל (the sanctuary); וַיֹּ֣אמֶר (and he said) אֵלַ֔י (to me) זֶ֖ה (This) קֹ֥דֶשׁ (is the Holy) הַקֳּדָשִֽׁים׃ (of Holies).

Outside the Temple

5  וַיָּ֥מָד (And he measured) קִֽיר־ (the wall) הַבַּ֖יִת (of the temple), שֵׁ֣שׁ (six) אַמּ֑וֹת (cubits); וְרֹ֣חַב (and the width) הַצֵּלָע֩ (of each side chamber), אַרְבַּ֨ע (was four) אַמּ֜וֹת (cubits), סָבִ֧יב׀ (all) סָבִ֛יב (around) לַבַּ֖יִת (the temple) סָבִֽיב׃ (on every side). 6  וְהַצְּלָעוֹת֩ (And side chambers) צֵלָ֨ע (side chamber) אֶל־ (above) צֵלָ֜ע (side chamber), שָׁל֧וֹשׁ (in three stories), וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים (thirty) פְּעָמִ֗ים (per level); וּ֠בָאוֹת (and they rested) בַּקִּ֨יר (on the ledges) אֲשֶׁר־ (that were) לַבַּ֧יִת (unto the house) לַצְּלָע֛וֹת (for the side chambers) סָבִ֥יב׀ (all) סָבִ֖יב (around), לִהְי֣וֹת (to be) אֲחוּזִ֑ים (supports), וְלֹֽא־ (not) יִהְי֥וּ (they were) אֲחוּזִ֖ים (fastened) בְּקִ֥יר (to the wall) הַבָּֽיִת׃ (of the temple). 7  וְֽרָחֲבָ֡ה (And it became wider), וְֽנָסְבָה֩ (and went around) לְמַ֨עְלָה (above) לְמַ֜עְלָה (and above) לַצְּלָע֗וֹת (to the side chambers); כִּ֣י (because) מֽוּסַב־ (the turning round) הַ֠בַּיִת (of the house) לְמַ֨עְלָה (went above) לְמַ֜עְלָה (and above) סָבִ֤יב׀ (round) סָבִיב֙ (and round) לַבַּ֔יִת (the house), עַל־ (upon) כֵּ֥ן (thus) רֹֽחַב־ (the width) לַבַּ֖יִת (of the structure) לְמָ֑עְלָה (above), וְכֵ֧ן (and) הַתַּחְתּוֹנָ֛ה (the lowest) יַעֲלֶ֥ה (went up) עַל־ (to) הָעֶלְיוֹנָ֖ה (the highest) לַתִּיכוֹנָֽה׃ (through the middle).

8  וְרָאִ֧יתִי (And I saw) לַבַּ֛יִת (for the temple) גֹּ֖בַהּ (an elevation) סָבִ֣יב׀ (round) סָבִ֑יב (and round); מְיֻסְּדוֹת (the foundation) הַצְּלָעוֹת֙ (of the side chambers) מְל֣וֹ (was a full) הַקָּנֶ֔ה (rod) שֵׁ֥שׁ (six) אַמּ֖וֹת (cubits) אַצִּֽילָה׃ (great). 9  רֹ֣חַב (The thickness) הַקִּ֧יר (of the wall), אֲ‍ֽשֶׁר־ (-) לַצֵּלָ֛ע (of the side chambers) אֶל־ (to) הַח֖וּץ (the outside), חָמֵ֣שׁ (was five) אַמּ֑וֹת (cubits). וַאֲשֶׁ֣ר (And also) מֻנָּ֔ח (the open area) בֵּ֥ית (between) צְלָע֖וֹת (the side rooms) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (that were) לַבָּֽיִת׃ (of the house). 10  וּבֵ֨ין (And between) הַלְּשָׁכ֜וֹת (the chambers was) רֹ֣חַב (a width) עֶשְׂרִ֥ים (of twenty) אַמָּ֛ה (cubits) סָבִ֥יב (all around) לַבַּ֖יִת (the house) סָבִ֥יב׀ (round) סָבִֽיב׃ (and round). 11  וּפֶ֤תַח (And the doors) הַצֵּלָע֙ (of the side chambers) לַמֻּנָּ֔ח (were toward the open area) פֶּ֤תַח (door) אֶחָד֙ (one) דֶּ֣רֶךְ (toward) הַצָּפ֔וֹן (the north), וּפֶ֥תַח (and door) אֶחָ֖ד (one) לַדָּר֑וֹם (toward the south); וְרֹ֙חַב֙ (and the width) מְק֣וֹם (of the space) הַמֻּנָּ֔ח (that was open) חָמֵ֥שׁ (was five) אַמּ֖וֹת (cubits) סָבִ֥יב׀ (all) סָבִֽיב׃ (around).

12  וְהַבִּנְיָ֡ן (And the building) אֲשֶׁר֩ (that was) אֶל־ (toward) פְּנֵ֨י (the face) הַגִּזְרָ֜ה (of the separating courtyard) פְּאַ֣ת (at the end) דֶּֽרֶךְ־ (toward) הַיָּ֗ם (the west) רֹ֚חַב (was wide); שִׁבְעִ֣ים (seventy) אַמָּ֔ה (cubits) וְקִ֧יר (and the wall) הַבִּנְיָ֛ן (of the building) חָֽמֵשׁ־ (was five) אַמּ֥וֹת (cubits) רֹ֖חַב (thick) סָבִ֣יב׀ (all) סָבִ֑יב (around), וְאָרְכּ֖וֹ (and its length was) תִּשְׁעִ֥ים (ninety) אַמָּֽה׃ (cubits).

13  וּמָדַ֣ד (And he measured) אֶת־ (-) הַבַּ֔יִת (the temple), אֹ֖רֶךְ (long); מֵאָ֣ה (a hundred) אַמָּ֑ה (cubits) וְהַגִּזְרָ֤ה (and the separating courtyard), וְהַבִּנְיָה֙ (and the building), וְקִ֣ירוֹתֶ֔יהָ (and its walls) אֹ֖רֶךְ (long); מֵאָ֥ה (a hundred) אַמָּֽה׃ (cubits). 14  וְרֹחַב֩ (And the width) פְּנֵ֨י (of the face) הַבַּ֧יִת (of the temple), וְהַגִּזְרָ֛ה (and the separating courtyard) לַקָּדִ֖ים (to the east), מֵאָ֥ה (was a hundred) אַמָּֽה׃ (cubits).

The Interior Structures

15  וּמָדַ֣ד (And he measured) אֹֽרֶךְ־ (the length) הַ֠בִּנְיָן (of the building) אֶל־ (to) פְּנֵ֨י (the face) הַגִּזְרָ֜ה (of the separating courtyard) אֲשֶׁ֨ר (that was) עַל־ (at) אַחֲרֶ֧יהָ (its back) וְאַתּוּקֵיהָא (and with its galleries) מִפּ֥וֹ (on this side) וּמִפּ֖וֹ (and on this side), מֵאָ֣ה (a hundred) אַמָּ֑ה (cubits), וְהַֽהֵיכָל֙ (the outer sanctuary), הַפְּנִימִ֔י (the inner) וְאֻֽלַמֵּ֖י (and the porches) הֶחָצֵֽר׃ (of the court); 16  הַסִּפִּ֡ים (their doorposts), וְהַחַלּוֹנִ֣ים (and the windows), הָ֠אֲטֻמוֹת (beveled) וְהָאַתִּיקִ֤ים׀ (and the galleries) סָבִיב֙ (all around) לִשְׁלָשְׁתָּ֔ם (for the three of them), נֶ֧גֶד (opposite) הַסַּ֛ף (the threshold), שְׂחִ֥יף (were paneled with) עֵ֖ץ (wood) סָבִ֣יב׀ (round) סָבִ֑יב (about), וְהָאָ֙רֶץ֙ (and from the ground) עַד־ (to) הַֽחַלֹּנ֔וֹת (the windows), וְהַֽחַלֹּנ֖וֹת (and the windows) מְכֻסּֽוֹת׃ (were covered), 17  עַל־ (from) מֵעַ֣ל (above) הַפֶּ֡תַח (the door), וְעַד־ (and to) הַבַּיִת֩ (the room), הַפְּנִימִ֨י (inner) וְלַח֜וּץ (and on the outside), וְאֶל־ (and on) כָּל־ (every) הַקִּ֨יר (wall) סָבִ֧יב׀ (round) סָבִ֛יב (about) בַּפְּנִימִ֥י (on the inside) וּבַחִיצ֖וֹן (and on the outside), מִדּֽוֹת׃ (had measured patterns). 18  וְעָשׂ֥וּי (And it was made) כְּרוּבִ֖ים (with cherubim) וְתִֽמֹרִ֑ים (and palm trees), וְתִֽמֹרָה֙ (a palm tree) בֵּין־ (between) כְּר֣וּב (a cherub) לִכְר֔וּב (and a cherub); וּשְׁנַ֥יִם (and were two) פָּנִ֖ים (faces); לַכְּרֽוּב׃ (unto each cherub). 19  וּפְנֵ֨י (And the face) אָדָ֤ם (of a man) אֶל־ (was toward) הַתִּֽמֹרָה֙ (the palm tree) מִפּ֔וֹ (on this side), וּפְנֵֽי־ (and the face) כְפִ֥יר (of a young lion) אֶל־ (toward) הַתִּֽמֹרָ֖ה (the palm tree) מִפּ֑וֹ (on this side); עָשׂ֥וּי (so it was made) אֶל־ (throughout) כָּל־ (all) הַבַּ֖יִת (the temple) סָבִ֥יב׀ (round) סָבִֽיב׃ (and round). 20  מֵהָאָ֙רֶץ֙ (From the floor) עַד־ (to) מֵעַ֣ל (the space above) הַפֶּ֔תַח (the door) הַכְּרוּבִ֥ים (the cherubim) וְהַתִּֽמֹרִ֖ים (and the palm trees) עֲשׂוּיִ֑ם (were made), וְקִ֖יר (and the wall) הַׄהֵׄיׄכָֽׄלׄ׃ (of the sanctuary).

21  הַֽהֵיכָ֖ל (The temple) מְזוּזַ֣ת (doorframe) רְבֻעָ֑ה (was square), וּפְנֵ֣י (and at the face) הַקֹּ֔דֶשׁ (of the sanctuary); הַמַּרְאֶ֖ה (the appearance) כַּמַּרְאֶֽה׃ (was as the appearance).

22  הַמִּזְבֵּ֡חַ (An altar was) עֵ֣ץ (of wood) שָׁלוֹשׁ֩ (three) אַמּ֨וֹת (cubits) גָּבֹ֜הַּ (high), וְאָרְכּ֣וֹ (and its length was) שְׁתַּֽיִם־ (two) אַמּ֗וֹת (cubits); וּמִקְצֹֽעוֹתָיו֙ (and its corners) ל֔וֹ (for it) וְאָרְכּ֥וֹ (and its length) וְקִֽירֹתָ֖יו (and its sides were) עֵ֑ץ (of wood). וַיְדַבֵּ֣ר (And he said) אֵלַ֔י (to me) זֶ֚ה (This is) הַשֻּׁלְחָ֔ן (the table) אֲשֶׁ֖ר (that is) לִפְנֵ֥י (before the face) יְהוָֽה׃ (of YHWH).

23  וּשְׁתַּ֧יִם (And two) דְּלָת֛וֹת (doors were) לַֽהֵיכָ֖ל (for the temple) וְלַקֹּֽדֶשׁ׃ (and for the sanctuary). 24  וּשְׁתַּ֥יִם (And two) דְּלָת֖וֹת (door-panels were) לַדְּלָת֑וֹת (for the doors) שְׁ֚תַּיִם (two) מוּסַבּ֣וֹת (turning) דְּלָת֔וֹת (door-panels); שְׁ֚תַּיִם (two) לְדֶ֣לֶת (for the door), אֶחָ֔ת (one) וּשְׁתֵּ֥י (and two) דְלָת֖וֹת (door-panels) לָאַחֶֽרֶת׃ (for the other). 25  וַעֲשׂוּיָ֨ה (And were made) אֲלֵיהֶ֜ן (onto them) אֶל־ (onto) דַּלְת֤וֹת (the doors) הַֽהֵיכָל֙ (of the temple), כְּרוּבִ֣ים (cherubim) וְתִֽמֹרִ֔ים (and palm trees), כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר (as) עֲשׂוּיִ֖ם (they were made) לַקִּיר֑וֹת (on the walls); וְעָ֥ב (and a canopy) עֵ֛ץ (of wood) אֶל־ (was at) פְּנֵ֥י (the face) הָאוּלָ֖ם (of the portico) מֵהַחֽוּץ׃ (on the outside). 26  וְחַלּוֹנִ֨ים (Windows) אֲטֻמ֤וֹת (and beveled) וְתִֽמֹרִים֙ (and palm trees were) מִפּ֣וֹ (on this side) וּמִפּ֔וֹ (and on this side), אֶל־ (on) כִּתְפ֖וֹת (the sides) הָֽאוּלָ֑ם (of the portico), וְצַלְע֥וֹת (and on the side chambers) הַבַּ֖יִת (of the temple), וְהָעֻבִּֽים׃ (and the canopies).
