Israel's Stubbornness

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
"Listen to this, you descendants of Jacob, you who are called by the name of Israel and come from the line of Judah, you who take oaths in the name of the LORD and invoke the God of Israel-- but not in truth or righteousness--1Hear this, O house of Jacob, who are called by the name of Israel, and who came from the waters of Judah, who swear by the name of the LORD and confess the God of Israel, but not in truth or right.1"Hear this, O house of Jacob, who are named Israel And who came forth from the loins of Judah, Who swear by the name of the LORD And invoke the God of Israel, But not in truth nor in righteousness.1Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, which are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah, which swear by the name of the LORD, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness.1Listen to this, house of Jacob-- those who are called by the name Israel and have descended from Judah, who swear by the name of Yahweh and declare the God of Israel, but not in truth or righteousness.
you who call yourselves citizens of the holy city and claim to rely on the God of Israel-- the LORD Almighty is his name:2For they call themselves after the holy city, and stay themselves on the God of Israel; the LORD of hosts is his name.2"For they call themselves after the holy city And lean on the God of Israel; The LORD of hosts is His name.2For they call themselves of the holy city, and stay themselves upon the God of Israel; The LORD of hosts is his name.2For they are named after the Holy City, and lean on the God of Israel; His name is Yahweh of Hosts.
I foretold the former things long ago, my mouth announced them and I made them known; then suddenly I acted, and they came to pass.3“The former things I declared of old; they went out from my mouth, and I announced them; then suddenly I did them, and they came to pass.3"I declared the former things long ago And they went forth from My mouth, and I proclaimed them. Suddenly I acted, and they came to pass.3I have declared the former things from the beginning; and they went forth out of my mouth, and I shewed them; I did them suddenly, and they came to pass.3I declared the past events long ago; they came out of My mouth; I proclaimed them. Suddenly I acted, and they occurred.
For I knew how stubborn you were; your neck muscles were iron, your forehead was bronze.4Because I know that you are obstinate, and your neck is an iron sinew and your forehead brass,4"Because I know that you are obstinate, And your neck is an iron sinew And your forehead bronze,4Because I knew that thou art obstinate, and thy neck is an iron sinew, and thy brow brass;4Because I know that you are stubborn, and your neck is iron and your forehead bronze,

Therefore I told you these things long ago; before they happened I announced them to you so that you could not say, 'My images brought them about; my wooden image and metal god ordained them.'5I declared them to you from of old, before they came to pass I announced them to you, lest you should say, ‘My idol did them, my carved image and my metal image commanded them.’5Therefore I declared them to you long ago, Before they took place I proclaimed them to you, So that you would not say, 'My idol has done them, And my graven image and my molten image have commanded them.'5I have even from the beginning declared it to thee; before it came to pass I shewed it thee: lest thou shouldest say, Mine idol hath done them, and my graven image, and my molten image, hath commanded them.5therefore I declared to you long ago. I announced it to you before it occurred, so you could not claim, 'My idol caused them; my carved image and cast idol control them.'
You have heard these things; look at them all. Will you not admit them? "From now on I will tell you of new things, of hidden things unknown to you.6“You have heard; now see all this; and will you not declare it? From this time forth I announce to you new things, hidden things that you have not known.6"You have heard; look at all this. And you, will you not declare it? I proclaim to you new things from this time, Even hidden things which you have not known.6Thou hast heard, see all this; and will not ye declare it? I have shewed thee new things from this time, even hidden things, and thou didst not know them.6You have heard it. Observe it all. Will you not acknowledge it? From now on I will announce new things to you, hidden things that you have not known.
They are created now, and not long ago; you have not heard of them before today. So you cannot say, 'Yes, I knew of them.'7They are created now, not long ago; before today you have never heard of them, lest you should say, ‘Behold, I knew them.’7"They are created now and not long ago; And before today you have not heard them, So that you will not say, 'Behold, I knew them.'7They are created now, and not from the beginning; even before the day when thou heardest them not; lest thou shouldest say, Behold, I knew them.7They have been created now, and not long ago; you have not heard of them before today, so you could not claim, 'I already knew them!'
You have neither heard nor understood; from of old your ears have not been open. Well do I know how treacherous you are; you were called a rebel from birth.8You have never heard, you have never known, from of old your ear has not been opened. For I knew that you would surely deal treacherously, and that from before birth you were called a rebel.8"You have not heard, you have not known. Even from long ago your ear has not been open, Because I knew that you would deal very treacherously; And you have been called a rebel from birth.8Yea, thou heardest not; yea, thou knewest not; yea, from that time that thine ear was not opened: for I knew that thou wouldest deal very treacherously, and wast called a transgressor from the womb.8You have never heard; you have never known; For a long time your ears have not been open. For I knew that you were very treacherous, and were known as a rebel from birth.
For my own name's sake I delay my wrath; for the sake of my praise I hold it back from you, so as not to destroy you completely.9“For my name’s sake I defer my anger; for the sake of my praise I restrain it for you, that I may not cut you off.9"For the sake of My name I delay My wrath, And for My praise I restrain it for you, In order not to cut you off.9For my name's sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off.9I will delay My anger for the honor of My name, and I will restrain Myself for your benefit and for My praise, so that you will not be destroyed.

See, I have refined you, though not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction.10Behold, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have tried you in the furnace of affliction.10"Behold, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction.10Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.10Look, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction.
For my own sake, for my own sake, I do this. How can I let myself be defamed? I will not yield my glory to another.11For my own sake, for my own sake, I do it, for how should my name be profaned? My glory I will not give to another.11"For My own sake, for My own sake, I will act; For how can My name be profaned? And My glory I will not give to another.11For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory unto another.11I will act for My own sake, indeed, My own, for how can I be defiled? I will not give My glory to another."

Israel Promised Deliverance

"Listen to me, Jacob, Israel, whom I have called: I am he; I am the first and I am the last.12“Listen to me, O Jacob, and Israel, whom I called! I am he; I am the first, and I am the last.12"Listen to Me, O Jacob, even Israel whom I called; I am He, I am the first, I am also the last.12Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last.12Listen to Me, Jacob, and Israel, the one called by Me: I am He; I am the first, I am also the last.
My own hand laid the foundations of the earth, and my right hand spread out the heavens; when I summon them, they all stand up together.13My hand laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand spread out the heavens; when I call to them, they stand forth together.13"Surely My hand founded the earth, And My right hand spread out the heavens; When I call to them, they stand together.13Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together.13My own hand founded the earth, and My right hand spread out the heavens; when I summoned them, they stood up together.
"Come together, all of you, and listen: Which of the idols has foretold these things? The LORD's chosen ally will carry out his purpose against Babylon; his arm will be against the Babylonians.14“Assemble, all of you, and listen! Who among them has declared these things? The LORD loves him; he shall perform his purpose on Babylon, and his arm shall be against the Chaldeans.14"Assemble, all of you, and listen! Who among them has declared these things? The LORD loves him; he will carry out His good pleasure on Babylon, And His arm will be against the Chaldeans.14All ye, assemble yourselves, and hear; which among them hath declared these things? The LORD hath loved him: he will do his pleasure on Babylon, and his arm shall be on the Chaldeans.14All of you, assemble and listen! Who among the idols has declared these things? The LORD loves him; he will accomplish His will against Babylon, and His arm will be against the Chaldeans.
I, even I, have spoken; yes, I have called him. I will bring him, and he will succeed in his mission.15I, even I, have spoken and called him; I have brought him, and he will prosper in his way.15"I, even I, have spoken; indeed I have called him, I have brought him, and He will make his ways successful.15I, even I, have spoken; yea, I have called him: I have brought him, and he shall make his way prosperous.15I--I have spoken; yes, I have called him; I have brought him, and he will succeed in his mission.

"Come near me and listen to this: "From the first announcement I have not spoken in secret; at the time it happens, I am there." And now the Sovereign LORD has sent me, endowed with his Spirit.16Draw near to me, hear this: from the beginning I have not spoken in secret, from the time it came to be I have been there.” And now the Lord GOD has sent me, and his Spirit.16"Come near to Me, listen to this: From the first I have not spoken in secret, From the time it took place, I was there. And now the Lord GOD has sent Me, and His Spirit."16Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord GOD, and his Spirit, hath sent me.16Approach Me and listen to this. From the beginning I have not spoken in secret; from the time anything existed, I was there." And now the Lord GOD has sent me and His Spirit.
This is what the LORD says-- your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: "I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.17Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the LORD your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you in the way you should go.17Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, "I am the LORD your God, who teaches you to profit, Who leads you in the way you should go.17Thus saith the LORD, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the LORD thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.17This is what the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel says: I am Yahweh your God, who teaches you for your benefit, who leads you in the way you should go.
If only you had paid attention to my commands, your peace would have been like a river, your well-being like the waves of the sea.18Oh that you had paid attention to my commandments! Then your peace would have been like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea;18"If only you had paid attention to My commandments! Then your well-being would have been like a river, And your righteousness like the waves of the sea.18O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea:18If only you had paid attention to My commands. Then your peace would have been like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea.
Your descendants would have been like the sand, your children like its numberless grains; their name would never be blotted out nor destroyed from before me."19your offspring would have been like the sand, and your descendants like its grains; their name would never be cut off or destroyed from before me.”19"Your descendants would have been like the sand, And your offspring like its grains; Their name would never be cut off or destroyed from My presence."19Thy seed also had been as the sand, and the offspring of thy bowels like the gravel thereof; his name should not have been cut off nor destroyed from before me.19Your descendants would have been as countless as the sand, and the offspring of your body like its grains; their name would not be cut off or eliminated from My presence.
Leave Babylon, flee from the Babylonians! Announce this with shouts of joy and proclaim it. Send it out to the ends of the earth; say, "The LORD has redeemed his servant Jacob."20Go out from Babylon, flee from Chaldea, declare this with a shout of joy, proclaim it, send it out to the end of the earth; say, “The LORD has redeemed his servant Jacob!”20Go forth from Babylon! Flee from the Chaldeans! Declare with the sound of joyful shouting, proclaim this, Send it out to the end of the earth; Say, "The LORD has redeemed His servant Jacob."20Go ye forth of Babylon, flee ye from the Chaldeans, with a voice of singing declare ye, tell this, utter it even to the end of the earth; say ye, The LORD hath redeemed his servant Jacob.20Leave Babylon, flee from the Chaldeans! Declare with a shout of joy, proclaim this, let it go out to the end of the earth; announce," The LORD has redeemed His servant Jacob!"

They did not thirst when he led them through the deserts; he made water flow for them from the rock; he split the rock and water gushed out.21They did not thirst when he led them through the deserts; he made water flow for them from the rock; he split the rock and the water gushed out.21They did not thirst when He led them through the deserts. He made the water flow out of the rock for them; He split the rock and the water gushed forth.21And they thirsted not when he led them through the deserts: he caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them: he clave the rock also, and the waters gushed out.21They did not thirst when He led them through the deserts; He made water flow for them from the rock; He split the rock, and water gushed out."
"There is no peace," says the LORD, "for the wicked."22“There is no peace,” says the LORD, “for the wicked.”22"There is no peace for the wicked," says the LORD.22There is no peace, saith the LORD, unto the wicked.22There is no peace for the wicked," says the LORD.
