23 On that day the Sadducees came to Him, saying, there is no resurrection: and asked Him, 24 saying, Teacher, Moses said, If any man may die, not having children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed to his brother. 25 But there were among us seven brothers: the first marrying died, and having no seed left his wife to his brother. 26 Likewise also, the second, and third, even unto seven. 27 And last of all the woman also died. 28 Therefore in the resurrection, of which one of the seven shall she be the wife? for they all had her. 29 and Jesus responding said to them, You err, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God. 30 For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but they are as angels of God in heaven: 31 concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read that which was spoken to you by God, saying, 32 I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living. 33 And the multitudes hearing, were delighted with His teaching. 34 And the Pharisees, hearing that He silenced the Sadducees, gathered themselves together. 35 And one of them, a theologian, tempting Him, asked Him also, saying, 36 Teacher, what is the great commandment in the law? 37 And He said to him; Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law, and the prophets. 41 And the Pharisees being assembled, Jesus asked them, 42 saying, What seems to you concerning the Christ? whose son is He? They say to Him, Of David. 43 He says to them, How then does David in the Spirit call Him Lord, saying, 44 The Lord said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, until I may make thine enemies the footstool of thy feet? 45 Then if David calls Him Lord, how is He his son? 46 And no one was able to respond a word to Him, neither did any one from that day dare to ask Him anything more.
