I CRIED to God with my voice, and he heard me; I have lifted up my voice to him, and he answered me. I cry aloud to God, aloud to God, and he will hear me. For the director of music. For Jeduthun. Of Asaph. A psalm. I cried out to God for help; I cried out to God to hear me.
In the day of my trouble I sought the LORD; my torment continued through the night, and ceased not; there was no comforter for my soul. In the day of my trouble I seek the Lord; in the night my hand is stretched out without wearying; my soul refuses to be comforted. When I was in distress, I sought the Lord; at night I stretched out untiring hands, and I would not be comforted.
When I remembered, O God, I was troubled; I meditated, and my spirit was overwhelmed. When I remember God, I moan; when I meditate, my spirit faints. Selah I remembered you, God, and I groaned; I meditated, and my spirit grew faint.
My eyes are dazed; I am dumb so that I cannot speak. You hold my eyelids open; I am so troubled that I cannot speak. You kept my eyes from closing; I was too troubled to speak.
I have considered the days of old; I am mindful of the years of ancient times. I consider the days of old, the years long ago. I thought about the former days, the years of long ago;
I meditated far into the night; I communed with mine own heart; I have examined my soul and said, I said, “Let me remember my song in the night; let me meditate in my heart.” Then my spirit made a diligent search: I remembered my songs in the night. My heart meditated and my spirit asked:
Has the LORD forsaken me for ever? and will he be favorable no more? “Will the Lord spurn forever, and never again be favorable? “Will the Lord reject forever? Will he never show his favor again?
Is his mercy gone for ever? does his promise fail for evermore? Has his steadfast love forever ceased? Are his promises at an end for all time? Has his unfailing love vanished forever? Has his promise failed for all time?
Has God forgotten to be gracious? has he in anger shut up his tender mercies? Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has he in anger shut up his compassion?” Selah Has God forgotten to be merciful? Has he in anger withheld his compassion?”
And I said, This is my infirmity; it is another visitation of the power of the most High. Then I said, “I will appeal to this, to the years of the right hand of the Most High.” Then I thought, “To this I will appeal: the years when the Most High stretched out his right hand.
I will remember the works of the LORD; surely I will remember thy wonders of old. I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your wonders of old. I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.
I will meditate also of all thy works, and think of thy skillful doings. I will ponder all your work, and meditate on your mighty deeds. I will consider all your works and meditate on all your mighty deeds.”
Thy way, O God, is holy; there is none so great as our God. Your way, O God, is holy. What god is great like our God? Your ways, God, are holy. What god is as great as our God?
Thou art the God that doest wonders; thou hast declared thy strength among the people. You are the God who works wonders; you have made known your might among the peoples. You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples.
Thou hast with thine arm saved thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. You with your arm redeemed your people, the children of Jacob and Joseph. Selah With your mighty arm you redeemed your people, the descendants of Jacob and Joseph.
The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee; they were afraid; the depths also were troubled. When the waters saw you, O God, when the waters saw you, they were afraid; indeed, the deep trembled. The waters saw you, God, the waters saw you and writhed; the very depths were convulsed.
The clouds poured out water; the skies sent out a sound; thine arrows also flew around. The clouds poured out water; the skies gave forth thunder; your arrows flashed on every side. The clouds poured down water, the heavens resounded with thunder; your arrows flashed back and forth.
The voice of thy thunder was in the heavens; the lightnings lightened the world; the earth trembled and shook. The crash of your thunder was in the whirlwind; your lightnings lighted up the world; the earth trembled and shook. Your thunder was heard in the whirlwind, your lightning lit up the world; the earth trembled and quaked.
Thy way is in the sea, and thy path is in the great waters, but thy footsteps are not seen. Your way was through the sea, your path through the great waters; yet your footprints were unseen. Your path led through the sea, your way through the mighty waters, though your footprints were not seen.
Thou didst lead thy people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron. You led your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron. You led your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.
