1 For Solomon. O God, grant the king the ability to make just decisions! Grant the king's son the ability to make fair decisions! Give the king your justice, O God, and your righteousness to the royal son! Of Solomon. Endow the king with your justice, O God, the royal son with your righteousness.
2 Then he will judge your people fairly, and your oppressed ones equitably. May he judge your people with righteousness, and your poor with justice! May he judge your people in righteousness, your afflicted ones with justice.
3 The mountains will bring news of peace to the people, and the hills will announce justice. Let the mountains bear prosperity for the people, and the hills, in righteousness! May the mountains bring prosperity to the people, the hills the fruit of righteousness.
4 He will defend the oppressed among the people; he will deliver the children of the poor and crush the oppressor. May he defend the cause of the poor of the people, give deliverance to the children of the needy, and crush the oppressor! May he defend the afflicted among the people and save the children of the needy; may he crush the oppressor.
5 People will fear you as long as the sun and moon remain in the sky, for generation after generation. May they fear you while the sun endures, and as long as the moon, throughout all generations! May he endure as long as the sun, as long as the moon, through all generations.
6 He will descend like rain on the mown grass, like showers that drench the earth. May he be like rain that falls on the mown grass, like showers that water the earth! May he be like rain falling on a mown field, like showers watering the earth.
7 During his days the godly will flourish; peace will prevail as long as the moon remains in the sky. In his days may the righteous flourish, and peace abound, till the moon be no more! In his days may the righteous flourish and prosperity abound till the moon is no more.
8 May he rule from sea to sea, and from the Euphrates River to the ends of the earth! May he have dominion from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth! May he rule from sea to sea and from the River to the ends of the earth.
9 Before him the coastlands will bow down, and his enemies will lick the dust. May desert tribes bow down before him, and his enemies lick the dust! May the desert tribes bow before him and his enemies lick the dust.
10 The kings of Tarshish and the coastlands will offer gifts; the kings of Sheba and Seba will bring tribute. May the kings of Tarshish and of the coastlands render him tribute; may the kings of Sheba and Seba bring gifts! May the kings of Tarshish and of distant shores bring tribute to him. May the kings of Sheba and Seba present him gifts.
11 All kings will bow down to him; all nations will serve him. May all kings fall down before him, all nations serve him! May all kings bow down to him and all nations serve him.
12 For he will rescue the needy when they cry out for help, and the oppressed who have no defender. For he delivers the needy when he calls, the poor and him who has no helper. For he will deliver the needy who cry out, the afflicted who have no one to help.
13 He will take pity on the poor and needy; the lives of the needy he will save. He has pity on the weak and the needy, and saves the lives of the needy. He will take pity on the weak and the needy and save the needy from death.
14 From harm and violence he will defend them; he will value their lives. From oppression and violence he redeems their life, and precious is their blood in his sight. He will rescue them from oppression and violence, for precious is their blood in his sight.
15 May he live! May they offer him gold from Sheba! May they continually pray for him! May they pronounce blessings on him all day long! Long may he live; may gold of Sheba be given to him! May prayer be made for him continually, and blessings invoked for him all the day! Long may he live! May gold from Sheba be given him. May people ever pray for him and bless him all day long.
16 May there be an abundance of grain in the earth; on the tops of the mountains may it sway! May its fruit trees flourish like the forests of Lebanon! May its crops be as abundant as the grass of the earth! May there be abundance of grain in the land; on the tops of the mountains may it wave; may its fruit be like Lebanon; and may people blossom in the cities like the grass of the field! May grain abound throughout the land; on the tops of the hills may it sway. May the crops flourish like Lebanon and thrive like the grass of the field.
17 May his fame endure! May his dynasty last as long as the sun remains in the sky! May they use his name when they formulate their blessings! May all nations consider him to be favored by God! May his name endure forever, his fame continue as long as the sun! May people be blessed in him, all nations call him blessed! May his name endure forever; may it continue as long as the sun. Then all nations will be blessed through him, and they will call him blessed.
18 The LORD God, the God of Israel, deserves praise! He alone accomplishes amazing things! Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who alone does wondrous things. Praise be to the LORD God, the God of Israel, who alone does marvelous deeds.
19 His glorious name deserves praise forevermore! May his majestic splendor fill the whole earth! We agree! We agree! Blessed be his glorious name forever; may the whole earth be filled with his glory! Amen and Amen! Praise be to his glorious name forever; may the whole earth be filled with his glory. Amen and Amen.
