1 Unto the end, destroy not, for David, for an inscription of a title, when he fled from Saul into the cave Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me: for my soul trusteth in thee. And in the shadow of thy wings will I hope, until iniquity pass away. 2 I will cry to God the most High; to God who hath done good to me. I cry out to God Most High, to God who fulfills his purpose for me. I cry out to God Most High, to God, who vindicates me.
3 He hath sent from heaven and delivered me: he hath made them a reproach that trod upon me. God hath sent his mercy and his truth, He will send from heaven and save me; he will put to shame him who tramples on me. Selah God will send out his steadfast love and his faithfulness! He sends from heaven and saves me, rebuking those who hotly pursue me— God sends forth his love and his faithfulness.
4 and he hath delivered my soul from the midst of the young lions. I slept troubled. The sons of men, whose teeth are weapons and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword. My soul is in the midst of lions; I lie down amid fiery beasts— the children of man, whose teeth are spears and arrows, whose tongues are sharp swords. 6 They prepared a snare for my feet; and they bowed down my soul. They dug a pit before my face, and they are fallen into it. They set a net for my steps; my soul was bowed down. 8 Arise, O my glory, arise psaltery and harp: I will arise early. Awake, my glory! Awake, O harp and lyre! I will awake the dawn! Awake, my soul! Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn.
9 I will give praise to thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing a psalm to thee among the nations. I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing praises to you among the nations. I will praise you, Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples.
10 For thy mercy is magnified even to the heavens: and thy truth unto the clouds. For your steadfast love is great to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds. For great is your love, reaching to the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
