Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me, for in you I take refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed. | 1Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me, for in you my soul takes refuge; in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge, till the storms of destruction pass by. | 1For the choir director; set to Al-tashheth. 2I cry out to God Most High, to God, who vindicates me. | 2I cry out to God Most High, to God who fulfills his purpose for me. | 2I will cry to God Most High, To God who accomplishes all things for me. | 2I will cry unto God most high; unto God that performeth all things for me. | 2I call to God Most High, to God who fulfills His purpose for me. |
3He sends from heaven and saves me, rebuking those who hotly pursue me-- God sends forth his love and his faithfulness. | 3He will send from heaven and save me; he will put to shame him who tramples on me. Selah God will send out his steadfast love and his faithfulness! | 3He will send from heaven and save me; He reproaches him who tramples upon me. Selah. God will send forth His lovingkindness and His truth. | 3He shall send from heaven, and save me from the reproach of him that would swallow me up. Selah. God shall send forth his mercy and his truth. | 3He reaches down from heaven and saves me, challenging the one who tramples me. Selah God sends His faithful love and truth. |
4I am in the midst of lions; I am forced to dwell among ravenous beasts-- men whose teeth are spears and arrows, whose tongues are sharp swords. | 4My soul is in the midst of lions; I lie down amid fiery beasts— the children of man, whose teeth are spears and arrows, whose tongues are sharp swords. | 4My soul is among lions; I must lie among those who breathe forth fire, Even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows And their tongue a sharp sword. | 4My soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword. | 4I am surrounded by lions; I lie down with those who devour men. 6They spread a net for my feet-- I was bowed down in distress. They dug a pit in my path-- but they have fallen into it themselves. | 6They set a net for my steps; my soul was bowed down. They dug a pit in my way, but they have fallen into it themselves.
