6 For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. 7 For it is only right for me to think this way about you all, because I have you in my heart, since both in my chains and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, you all are fellow partakers with me in this grace. It is right for me to feel this way about you all, because I hold you in my heart, for you are all partakers with me of grace, both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel. It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart and, whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God’s grace with me.
8 For God is my witness, how I long for you all with the affection of Christ Jesus. For God is my witness, how I yearn for you all with the affection of Christ Jesus. God can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus.
9 And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in full knowledge and all discernment, And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight,
10 so that you may approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and without fault until the day of Christ, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ,

12 Now I want you to know, brothers, that my circumstances have turned out for the greater progress of the gospel, I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel, Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that what has happened to me has actually served to advance the gospel.
13 so that my chains in Christ have become well known throughout the whole praetorian guard and to everyone else, so that it has become known throughout the whole imperial guard and to all the rest that my imprisonment is for Christ. As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ.
14 and that most of the brothers, having become confident in the Lord because of my chains, have far more courage to speak the word of God without fear. And most of the brothers, having become confident in the Lord by my imprisonment, are much more bold to speak the word without fear. And because of my chains, most of the brothers and sisters have become confident in the Lord and dare all the more to proclaim the gospel without fear.
15 Some, to be sure, are preaching Christ even from envy and strife, but some also from good will; Some indeed preach Christ from envy and rivalry, but others from good will. It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill.

17 the former proclaim Christ out of selfish ambition rather than from pure motives, thinking to cause me affliction in my chains. The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice. Yes, and I will continue to rejoice,
19 for I know that THIS WILL TURN OUT FOR MY SALVATION through your prayers and the provision of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, for I know that through your prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ this will turn out for my deliverance, for I know that through your prayers and God’s provision of the Spirit of Jesus Christ what has happened to me will turn out for my deliverance.
20 according to my earnest expectation and hope, that I will not be put to shame in anything, but that with all boldness, Christ will even now, as always, be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death. as it is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with full courage now as always Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death. I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death.
21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.
22 But if I am to live on in the flesh, this will mean fruitful labor for me; and I do not know what I will choose. If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell. If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know!
23 But I am hard-pressed between the two, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, for that is very much better, I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better. I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far;
24 yet to remain on in the flesh is more necessary for your sake. But to remain in the flesh is more necessary on your account. but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body.
25 And convinced of this, I know that I will remain and continue with you all for your progress and joy in the faith, Convinced of this, I know that I will remain and continue with you all, for your progress and joy in the faith, Convinced of this, I know that I will remain, and I will continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith,
26 so that your reason for boasting may abound in Christ Jesus in me, through my coming to you again. so that in me you may have ample cause to glory in Christ Jesus, because of my coming to you again. so that through my being with you again your boasting in Christ Jesus will abound on account of me.
27 Only live your lives in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or remain absent, I will hear about your circumstances, that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind contending together for the faith of the gospel, Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel, Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel
28 in no way alarmed by your opponents—which is a sign of destruction for them, but of salvation for you, and that too, from God. and not frightened in anything by your opponents. This is a clear sign to them of their destruction, but of your salvation, and that from God. without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you. This is a sign to them that they will be destroyed, but that you will be saved—and that by God.
29 For to you it has been granted for Christ’s sake, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake, For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake, For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for him,
30 having the same struggle which you saw in me, and now hear to be in me. engaged in the same conflict that you saw I had and now hear that I still have. since you are going through the same struggle you saw I had, and now hear that I still have.
