1 After these things Jesus manifested Himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias; and He manifested Himself in this manner. After this Jesus revealed himself again to the disciples by the Sea of Tiberias, and he revealed himself in this way. Afterward Jesus appeared again to his disciples, by the Sea of Galilee. It happened this way:
2 There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathaniel of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two others of His disciples. Simon Peter, Thomas (called the Twin), Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples were together. Simon Peter, Thomas (also known as Didymus), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples were together.
3 Simon Peter says to them, "I am going away to fish." They say to him, We also are coming with you." They went forth, and entered into a boat; and in that night they caught nothing. Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” They said to him, “We will go with you.” They went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing. “I’m going out to fish,” Simon Peter told them, and they said, “We’ll go with you.” So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.
4 But, morning now coming on, Jesus stood on the beach; yet the disciples knew not that it was Jesus. Just as day was breaking, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus.
5 Jesus, therefore, saith to them, "Little children, have ye anything to eat?" They answered Him, "No." Jesus said to them, “Children, do you have any fish?” They answered him, “No.” He called out to them, “Friends, haven’t you any fish?” “No,” they answered.
6 And He said to there, "Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and ye shall find." They cast it , therefore; and no longer were they able to draw it, for the multitude of the fishes. He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast it, and now they were not able to haul it in, because of the quantity of fish. He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.
7 That disciple, therefore, whom Jesus loved, says to Peter, "It is the Lord!" Simon Peter, therefore, having heard that it was the Lord, girded his outer garment (for he was naked), and cast himself into the sea. That disciple whom Jesus loved therefore said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment, for he was stripped for work, and threw himself into the sea. Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” As soon as Simon Peter heard him say, “It is the Lord,” he wrapped his outer garment around him (for he had taken it off) and jumped into the water.
8 But the other disciples came in the little boat (for they were not far from the land, but about two hundred cubits distant), dragging the net full of fishes. The other disciples came in the boat, dragging the net full of fish, for they were not far from the land, but about a hundred yards off. The other disciples followed in the boat, towing the net full of fish, for they were not far from shore, about a hundred yards.
9 When, therefore, they went out upon the land, they see a fire of coals there, and fish lying thereon, and bread. When they got out on land, they saw a charcoal fire in place, with fish laid out on it, and bread. When they landed, they saw a fire of burning coals there with fish on it, and some bread.
10 Jesus saith to them, "Bring of the fishes which ye just now caught." Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish that you have just caught.” Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish you have just caught.”
11 Simon Peter, therefore, went aboard, and drew the net to the land, full of great fishes, a hundred and fifty and three; and, though there were so many, the net was not rent. So Simon Peter went aboard and hauled the net ashore, full of large fish, 153 of them. And although there were so many, the net was not torn. So Simon Peter climbed back into the boat and dragged the net ashore. It was full of large fish, 153, but even with so many the net was not torn.
12 Jesus saith to them, "Come, take breakfast." And not one of the disciples was daring to inquire of Him," Who art Thou?" knowing that it was the Lord. Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” Now none of the disciples dared ask him, “Who are you?” They knew it was the Lord. Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” None of the disciples dared ask him, “Who are you?” They knew it was the Lord.
13 Jesus cometh, and taketh the bread, and giveth to them, and the fish likewise. Jesus came and took the bread and gave it to them, and so with the fish. Jesus came, took the bread and gave it to them, and did the same with the fish.
14 This is now the third time that Jesus was manifested to the disciples, after He was raised from the dead. This was now the third time that Jesus was revealed to the disciples after he was raised from the dead. This was now the third time Jesus appeared to his disciples after he was raised from the dead.
15 So, when they breakfasted, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?" He says to Him, "Yea, Lord, Thou knowest that I fondly love Thee." He saith to him, "Feed My lambs." When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Feed my lambs.” When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?” “Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.”
16 He saith to him again a second time, "Simon, son of John, do you love Me?" He says to Him, "Yea, Lord, Thou knowest that I fondly love Thee." He saith to him, "Feed My sheep." He said to him a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Tend my sheep.” Again Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.”
17 He saith to him the third time, "Simon, son of John, do you fondly love Me?" Peter was grieved, because He said to him the third time "Do you fondly love Me?" and he said to Him, "Lord, Thou knowest all things; Thou knowest that I do fondly love Thee." Jesus saith to him, "Feed My sheep. He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, “Do you love me?” and he said to him, “Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep. The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my sheep.
18 Verily, verily, I say to you, when you were young, you were wont to gird yourself, and to walk wheresoever you wished; but, when you become old, you will stretch forth your hands, and another will gird you, and carry you whither you wish not." Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were young, you used to dress yourself and walk wherever you wanted, but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will dress you and carry you where you do not want to go.” Very truly I tell you, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.”
19 Now this He spake, signifying by what manner of death he would glorify God. And, having spoken this, He saith to him, "Follow Me." (This he said to show by what kind of death he was to glorify God.) And after saying this he said to him, “Follow me.” Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him, “Follow me!”
20 Peter, turning about, sees the disciple whom Jesus loved following; who also at the Supper leaned back on Jesus' breast, and said, "Lord, who is he that betrays Thee?" Peter turned and saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following them, the one who also had leaned back against him during the supper and had said, “Lord, who is it that is going to betray you?” Peter turned and saw that the disciple whom Jesus loved was following them. (This was the one who had leaned back against Jesus at the supper and had said, “Lord, who is going to betray you?”)
21 Peter therefore, seeing him, says to Jesus, "Lord, and what will this man do ?" When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, “Lord, what about this man?” When Peter saw him, he asked, “Lord, what about him?”
22 Jesus saith to him, "If I wish him to remain till I come, what is it to you? follow Me." Jesus said to him, “If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow me!” Jesus answered, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me.”
23 This saying, therefore, went forth among the brethren, that that disciple should not die; yet Jesus did not say to him, that he should not die, but, "If I wish him to remain till I come, what is it to you?" So the saying spread abroad among the brothers that this disciple was not to die; yet Jesus did not say to him that he was not to die, but, “If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you?” Because of this, the rumor spread among the believers that this disciple would not die. But Jesus did not say that he would not die; he only said, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you?”
24 This is the disciple who testifies concerning these things, and wrote these things; and we know that his testimony is true. This is the disciple who is bearing witness about these things, and who has written these things, and we know that his testimony is true. This is the disciple who testifies to these things and who wrote them down. We know that his testimony is true.
25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did; which, indeed, were they written one by one, I suppose that not even the world itself would contain the books that would be written. Now there are also many other things that Jesus did. Were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.
