| 1O LORD, I have come to you for protection; don’t let me be disgraced. Save me, for you do what is right. | 1For the director of music. A psalm of David. In you, LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame; deliver me in your righteousness. |
| 2Turn your ear to listen to me; rescue me quickly. Be my rock of protection, a fortress where I will be safe. | 2Turn your ear to me, come quickly to my rescue; be my rock of refuge, a strong fortress to save me. |
| 3You are my rock and my fortress. For the honor of your name, lead me out of this danger. | 3Since you are my rock and my fortress, for the sake of your name lead and guide me. |
| 4Pull me from the trap my enemies set for me, for I find protection in you alone. | 4Keep me free from the trap that is set for me, for you are my refuge. |

| 11I am scorned by all my enemies and despised by my neighbors— even my friends are afraid to come near me. When they see me on the street, they run the other way. | 11Because of all my enemies, I am the utter contempt of my neighbors and an object of dread to my closest friends-- those who see me on the street flee from me. |
| 12I am ignored as if I were dead, as if I were a broken pot. | 12I am forgotten as though I were dead; I have become like broken pottery. |
| 13I have heard the many rumors about me, and I am surrounded by terror. My enemies conspire against me, plotting to take my life. | 13For I hear many whispering, "Terror on every side!" They conspire against me and plot to take my life. |
| 14But I am trusting you, O LORD, saying, “You are my God!” | 14But I trust in you, LORD; I say, "You are my God." |
| 15My future is in your hands. Rescue me from those who hunt me down relentlessly. | 15My times are in your hands; deliver me from the hands of my enemies, from those who pursue me. |

| 17Don’t let me be disgraced, O LORD, for I call out to you for help. Let the wicked be disgraced; let them lie silent in the grave. | 17Let me not be put to shame, LORD, for I have cried out to you; but let the wicked be put to shame and be silent in the realm of the dead. |
| 18Silence their lying lips— those proud and arrogant lips that accuse the godly. | 18Let their lying lips be silenced, for with pride and contempt they speak arrogantly against the righteous. |
| 19How great is the goodness you have stored up for those who fear you. You lavish it on those who come to you for protection, blessing them before the watching world. | 19How abundant are the good things that you have stored up for those who fear you, that you bestow in the sight of all, on those who take refuge in you. |
| 20You hide them in the shelter of your presence, safe from those who conspire against them. You shelter them in your presence, far from accusing tongues. | 20In the shelter of your presence you hide them from all human intrigues; you keep them safe in your dwelling from accusing tongues. |
| 21Praise the LORD, for he has shown me the wonders of his unfailing love. He kept me safe when my city was under attack. | 21Praise be to the LORD, for he showed me the wonders of his love when I was in a city under siege. |
| 22In panic I cried out, “I am cut off from the LORD!” But you heard my cry for mercy and answered my call for help. | 22In my alarm I said, "I am cut off from your sight!" Yet you heard my cry for mercy when I called to you for help. |
| 23Love the LORD, all you godly ones! For the LORD protects those who are loyal to him, but he harshly punishes the arrogant. | 23Love the LORD, all his faithful people! The LORD preserves those who are true to him, but the proud he pays back in full. |
| 24So be strong and courageous, all you who put your hope in the LORD! | 24Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the LORD. |
