| 1Then the angel showed me a river with the water of life, clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb. | 1And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. |
| 2It flowed down the center of the main street. On each side of the river grew a tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, with a fresh crop each month. The leaves were used for medicine to heal the nations. | 2In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. |
| 3No longer will there be a curse upon anything. For the throne of God and of the Lamb will be there, and his servants will worship him. | 3And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him: |
| 4And they will see his face, and his name will be written on their foreheads. | 4And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. |
| 5And there will be no night there—no need for lamps or sun—for the Lord God will shine on them. And they will reign forever and ever. | 5And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever. |
| 6Then the angel said to me, “Everything you have heard and seen is trustworthy and true. The Lord God, who inspires his prophets, has sent his angel to tell his servants what will happen soon. ” Jesus Is Coming | 6And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done. |
| 7 “Look, I am coming soon! Blessed are those who obey the words of prophecy written in this book. ” | 7Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book. |
| 8I, John, am the one who heard and saw all these things. And when I heard and saw them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who showed them to me. | 8And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things. |
| 9But he said, “No, don’t worship me. I am a servant of God, just like you and your brothers the prophets, as well as all who obey what is written in this book. Worship only God!” | 9Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God. |
| 10Then he instructed me, “Do not seal up the prophetic words in this book, for the time is near. | 10And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand. |
| 11Let the one who is doing harm continue to do harm; let the one who is vile continue to be vile; let the one who is righteous continue to live righteously; let the one who is holy continue to be holy.” | 11He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. |
| 12 “Look, I am coming soon, bringing my reward with me to repay all people according to their deeds. | 12And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. |
| 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.” | 13I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. |
| 14Blessed are those who wash their robes. They will be permitted to enter through the gates of the city and eat the fruit from the tree of life. | 14Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. |
| 15Outside the city are the dogs—the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idol worshipers, and all who love to live a lie. | 15For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. |
| 16 “I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this message for the churches. I am both the source of David and the heir to his throne. I am the bright morning star.” | 16I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. |
| 17The Spirit and the bride say, “Come.” Let anyone who hears this say, “Come.” Let anyone who is thirsty come. Let anyone who desires drink freely from the water of life. | 17And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. |
| 18And I solemnly declare to everyone who hears the words of prophecy written in this book: If anyone adds anything to what is written here, God will add to that person the plagues described in this book. | 18For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: |
| 19And if anyone removes any of the words from this book of prophecy, God will remove that person’s share in the tree of life and in the holy city that are described in this book. | 19And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. |
| 20He who is the faithful witness to all these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon!” Amen! Come, Lord Jesus! | 20He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. |
| 21May the grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s holy people. | 21The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. |
