Philippians 4
NLT Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
New Living TranslationEnglish Standard Version
Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stay true to the Lord. I love you and long to see you, dear friends, for you are my joy and the crown I receive for my work. Words of Encouragement1Therefore, my brothers, whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm thus in the Lord, my beloved.
Now I appeal to Euodia and Syntyche. Please, because you belong to the Lord, settle your disagreement.2I entreat Euodia and I entreat Syntyche to agree in the Lord.
And I ask you, my true partner, to help these two women, for they worked hard with me in telling others the Good News. They worked along with Clement and the rest of my co-workers, whose names are written in the Book of Life.3Yes, I ask you also, true companion, help these women, who have labored side by side with me in the gospel together with Clement and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life.
Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice!4Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.
Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon.5Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand;
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.6do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.7And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.8Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you. Paul’s Thanks for Their Gifts9What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
How I praise the Lord that you are concerned about me again. I know you have always been concerned for me, but you didn’t have the chance to help me.10I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at length you have revived your concern for me. You were indeed concerned for me, but you had no opportunity.
Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have.11Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content.
I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little.12I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need.
For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.13I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
Even so, you have done well to share with me in my present difficulty.14Yet it was kind of you to share my trouble.
As you know, you Philippians were the only ones who gave me financial help when I first brought you the Good News and then traveled on from Macedonia. No other church did this.15And you Philippians yourselves know that in the beginning of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, no church entered into partnership with me in giving and receiving, except you only.
Even when I was in Thessalonica you sent help more than once.16Even in Thessalonica you sent me help for my needs once and again.
I don’t say this because I want a gift from you. Rather, I want you to receive a reward for your kindness.17Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that increases to your credit.
At the moment I have all I need—and more! I am generously supplied with the gifts you sent me with Epaphroditus. They are a sweet-smelling sacrifice that is acceptable and pleasing to God.18I have received full payment, and more. I am well supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God.
And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.19And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
Now all glory to God our Father forever and ever! Amen. Paul’s Final Greetings20To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.
Give my greetings to each of God’s holy people—all who belong to Christ Jesus. The brothers who are with me send you their greetings.21Greet every saint in Christ Jesus. The brothers who are with me greet you.
And all the rest of God’s people send you greetings, too, especially those in Caesar’s household.22All the saints greet you, especially those of Caesar’s household.
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.23The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.
