New Living TranslationChristian Standard Bible
Please listen, O Shepherd of Israel, you who lead Joseph’s descendants like a flock. O God, enthroned above the cherubim, display your radiant glory1Listen, Shepherd of Israel, who leads Joseph like a flock; you who sit enthroned between the cherubim, shine
to Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh. Show us your mighty power. Come to rescue us!2on Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh. Rally your power and come to save us.
Turn us again to yourself, O God. Make your face shine down upon us. Only then will we be saved.3Restore us, God; make your face shine on us, so that we may be saved.
O LORD God of Heaven’s Armies, how long will you be angry with our prayers?4LORD God of Armies, how long will you be angry with your people's prayers?
You have fed us with sorrow and made us drink tears by the bucketful.5You fed them the bread of tears and gave them a full measure of tears to drink.
You have made us the scorn of neighboring nations. Our enemies treat us as a joke.6You put us at odds with our neighbors; our enemies mock us.
Turn us again to yourself, O God of Heaven’s Armies. Make your face shine down upon us. Only then will we be saved.7Restore us, God of Armies; make your face shine on us, so that we may be saved.
You brought us from Egypt like a grapevine; you drove away the pagan nations and transplanted us into your land.8You dug up a vine from Egypt; you drove out the nations and planted it.
You cleared the ground for us, and we took root and filled the land.9You cleared a place for it; it took root and filled the land.
Our shade covered the mountains; our branches covered the mighty cedars.10The mountains were covered by its shade, and the mighty cedars with its branches.
We spread our branches west to the Mediterranean Sea; our shoots spread east to the Euphrates River.11It sent out sprouts toward the Sea and shoots toward the River.
But now, why have you broken down our walls so that all who pass by may steal our fruit?12Why have you broken down its walls so that all who pass by pick its fruit?
The wild boar from the forest devours it, and the wild animals feed on it.13Boars from the forest tear at it and creatures of the field feed on it.
Come back, we beg you, O God of Heaven’s Armies. Look down from heaven and see our plight. Take care of this grapevine14Return, God of Armies. Look down from heaven and see; take care of this vine,
that you yourself have planted, this son you have raised for yourself.15the root your right hand planted, the son that you made strong for yourself.
For we are chopped up and burned by our enemies. May they perish at the sight of your frown.16It was cut down and burned; they perish at the rebuke of your countenance.
Strengthen the man you love, the son of your choice.17Let your hand be with the man at your right hand, with the son of man you have made strong for yourself.
Then we will never abandon you again. Revive us so we can call on your name once more.18Then we will not turn away from you; revive us, and we will call on your name.
Turn us again to yourself, O LORD God of Heaven’s Armies. Make your face shine down upon us. Only then will we be saved.19Restore us, LORD, God of Armies; make your face shine on us, so that we may be saved.
