| 1For Solomon. O God, grant the king the ability to make just decisions! Grant the king's son the ability to make fair decisions! | 1God, give your justice to the king and your righteousness to the king's son. |
| 2Then he will judge your people fairly, and your oppressed ones equitably. | 2He will judge your people with righteousness and your afflicted ones with justice. |
| 3The mountains will bring news of peace to the people, and the hills will announce justice. | 3May the mountains bring well-being to the people and the hills, righteousness. |
| 4He will defend the oppressed among the people; he will deliver the children of the poor and crush the oppressor. | 4May he vindicate the afflicted among the people, help the poor, and crush the oppressor. |
| 5People will fear you as long as the sun and moon remain in the sky, for generation after generation. | 5May they fear you while the sun endures and as long as the moon, throughout all generations. |
