New American Standard Bible 1995 | New Living Translation |
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. | 1Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. |
I will say to the LORD, "My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust!" | 2This I declare about the LORD: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. |
For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper And from the deadly pestilence. | 3For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. |
He will cover you with His pinions, And under His wings you may seek refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark. | 4He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. |
You will not be afraid of the terror by night, Or of the arrow that flies by day; | 5Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day. |
Of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, Or of the destruction that lays waste at noon. | 6Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday. |
A thousand may fall at your side And ten thousand at your right hand, But it shall not approach you. | 7Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you. |
You will only look on with your eyes And see the recompense of the wicked. | 8Just open your eyes, and see how the wicked are punished. |
For you have made the LORD, my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place. | 9If you make the LORD your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, |
No evil will befall you, Nor will any plague come near your tent. | 10no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home. |
For He will give His angels charge concerning you, To guard you in all your ways. | 11For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. |
They will bear you up in their hands, That you do not strike your foot against a stone. | 12They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone. |
You will tread upon the lion and cobra, The young lion and the serpent you will trample down. | 13You will trample upon lions and cobras; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet! |
"Because he has loved Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him securely on high, because he has known My name. | 14The LORD says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. |
"He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him. | 15When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them. |
"With a long life I will satisfy him And let him see My salvation." | 16I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.” |
