King James Bible | New Living Translation |
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, | 1The LORD said to Moses, |
Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring me an offering: of every man that giveth it willingly with his heart ye shall take my offering. | 2“Tell the people of Israel to bring me their sacred offerings. Accept the contributions from all whose hearts are moved to offer them. |
And this is the offering which ye shall take of them; gold, and silver, and brass, | 3Here is a list of sacred offerings you may accept from them: gold, silver, and bronze; |
And blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goats' hair, | 4blue, purple, and scarlet thread; fine linen and goat hair for cloth; |
And rams' skins dyed red, and badgers' skins, and shittim wood, | 5tanned ram skins and fine goatskin leather; acacia wood; |
Oil for the light, spices for anointing oil, and for sweet incense, | 6olive oil for the lamps; spices for the anointing oil and the fragrant incense; |
Onyx stones, and stones to be set in the ephod, and in the breastplate. | 7onyx stones, and other gemstones to be set in the ephod and the priest’s chestpiece. |
And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them. | 8“Have the people of Israel build me a holy sanctuary so I can live among them. |
According to all that I shew thee, after the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all the instruments thereof, even so shall ye make it. | 9You must build this Tabernacle and its furnishings exactly according to the pattern I will show you. Plans for the Ark of the Covenant |
And they shall make an ark of shittim wood: two cubits and a half shall be the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof, and a cubit and a half the height thereof. | 10“Have the people make an Ark of acacia wood—a sacred chest 45 inches long, 27 inches wide, and 27 inches high. |
And thou shalt overlay it with pure gold, within and without shalt thou overlay it, and shalt make upon it a crown of gold round about. | 11Overlay it inside and outside with pure gold, and run a molding of gold all around it. |
And thou shalt cast four rings of gold for it, and put them in the four corners thereof; and two rings shall be in the one side of it, and two rings in the other side of it. | 12Cast four gold rings and attach them to its four feet, two rings on each side. |
And thou shalt make staves of shittim wood, and overlay them with gold. | 13Make poles from acacia wood, and overlay them with gold. |
And thou shalt put the staves into the rings by the sides of the ark, that the ark may be borne with them. | 14Insert the poles into the rings at the sides of the Ark to carry it. |
The staves shall be in the rings of the ark: they shall not be taken from it. | 15These carrying poles must stay inside the rings; never remove them. |
And thou shalt put into the ark the testimony which I shall give thee. | 16When the Ark is finished, place inside it the stone tablets inscribed with the terms of the covenant, which I will give to you. |
And thou shalt make a mercy seat of pure gold: two cubits and a half shall be the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof. | 17“Then make the Ark’s cover—the place of atonement—from pure gold. It must be 45 inches long and 27 inches wide. |
And thou shalt make two cherubims of gold, of beaten work shalt thou make them, in the two ends of the mercy seat. | 18Then make two cherubim from hammered gold, and place them on the two ends of the atonement cover. |
And make one cherub on the one end, and the other cherub on the other end: even of the mercy seat shall ye make the cherubims on the two ends thereof. | 19Mold the cherubim on each end of the atonement cover, making it all of one piece of gold. |
And the cherubims shall stretch forth their wings on high, covering the mercy seat with their wings, and their faces shall look one to another; toward the mercy seat shall the faces of the cherubims be. | 20The cherubim will face each other and look down on the atonement cover. With their wings spread above it, they will protect it. |
And thou shalt put the mercy seat above upon the ark; and in the ark thou shalt put the testimony that I shall give thee. | 21Place inside the Ark the stone tablets inscribed with the terms of the covenant, which I will give to you. Then put the atonement cover on top of the Ark. |
And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel. | 22I will meet with you there and talk to you from above the atonement cover between the gold cherubim that hover over the Ark of the Covenant. From there I will give you my commands for the people of Israel. Plans for the Table |
Thou shalt also make a table of shittim wood: two cubits shall be the length thereof, and a cubit the breadth thereof, and a cubit and a half the height thereof. | 23“Then make a table of acacia wood, 36 inches long, 18 inches wide, and 27 inches high. |
And thou shalt overlay it with pure gold, and make thereto a crown of gold round about. | 24Overlay it with pure gold and run a gold molding around the edge. |
And thou shalt make unto it a border of an hand breadth round about, and thou shalt make a golden crown to the border thereof round about. | 25Decorate it with a 3-inch border all around, and run a gold molding along the border. |
And thou shalt make for it four rings of gold, and put the rings in the four corners that are on the four feet thereof. | 26Make four gold rings for the table and attach them at the four corners next to the four legs. |
Over against the border shall the rings be for places of the staves to bear the table. | 27Attach the rings near the border to hold the poles that are used to carry the table. |
And thou shalt make the staves of shittim wood, and overlay them with gold, that the table may be borne with them. | 28Make these poles from acacia wood, and overlay them with gold. |
And thou shalt make the dishes thereof, and spoons thereof, and covers thereof, and bowls thereof, to cover withal: of pure gold shalt thou make them. | 29Make special containers of pure gold for the table—bowls, ladles, pitchers, and jars—to be used in pouring out liquid offerings. |
And thou shalt set upon the table shewbread before me alway. | 30Place the Bread of the Presence on the table to remain before me at all times. Plans for the Lampstand |
And thou shalt make a candlestick of pure gold: of beaten work shall the candlestick be made: his shaft, and his branches, his bowls, his knops, and his flowers, shall be of the same. | 31“Make a lampstand of pure, hammered gold. Make the entire lampstand and its decorations of one piece—the base, center stem, lamp cups, buds, and petals. |
And six branches shall come out of the sides of it; three branches of the candlestick out of the one side, and three branches of the candlestick out of the other side: | 32Make it with six branches going out from the center stem, three on each side. |
Three bowls made like unto almonds, with a knop and a flower in one branch; and three bowls made like almonds in the other branch, with a knop and a flower: so in the six branches that come out of the candlestick. | 33Each of the six branches will have three lamp cups shaped like almond blossoms, complete with buds and petals. |
And in the candlestick shall be four bowls made like unto almonds, with their knops and their flowers. | 34Craft the center stem of the lampstand with four lamp cups shaped like almond blossoms, complete with buds and petals. |
And there shall be a knop under two branches of the same, and a knop under two branches of the same, and a knop under two branches of the same, according to the six branches that proceed out of the candlestick. | 35There will also be an almond bud beneath each pair of branches where the six branches extend from the center stem. |
Their knops and their branches shall be of the same: all it shall be one beaten work of pure gold. | 36The almond buds and branches must all be of one piece with the center stem, and they must be hammered from pure gold. |
And thou shalt make the seven lamps thereof: and they shall light the lamps thereof, that they may give light over against it. | 37Then make the seven lamps for the lampstand, and set them so they reflect their light forward. |
And the tongs thereof, and the snuffdishes thereof, shall be of pure gold. | 38The lamp snuffers and trays must also be made of pure gold. |
Of a talent of pure gold shall he make it, with all these vessels. | 39You will need 75 pounds of pure gold for the lampstand and its accessories. |
And look that thou make them after their pattern, which was shewed thee in the mount. | 40“Be sure that you make everything according to the pattern I have shown you here on the mountain. |
