A Song or Psalm of Asaph. Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God. | 1A Song, a Psalm of Asaph. O God, do not remain quiet; Do not be silent and, O God, do not be still. |
For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head. | 2For behold, Your enemies make an uproar, And those who hate You have exalted themselves. |
They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones. | 3They make shrewd plans against Your people, And conspire together against Your treasured ones. |
They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance. | 4They have said, "Come, and let us wipe them out as a nation, That the name of Israel be remembered no more." |
For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee: | 5For they have conspired together with one mind; Against You they make a covenant: |
The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes; | 6The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagrites; |
Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre; | 7Gebal and Ammon and Amalek, Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre; |
Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah. | 8Assyria also has joined with them; They have become a help to the children of Lot. Selah. |
Do unto them as unto the Midianites; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook of Kison: | 9Deal with them as with Midian, As with Sisera and Jabin at the torrent of Kishon, |
Which perished at Endor: they became as dung for the earth. | 10Who were destroyed at En-dor, Who became as dung for the ground. |
Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb: yea, all their princes as Zebah, and as Zalmunna: | 11Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb And all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna, |
Who said, Let us take to ourselves the houses of God in possession. | 12Who said, "Let us possess for ourselves The pastures of God." |
O my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the wind. | 13O my God, make them like the whirling dust, Like chaff before the wind. |
As the fire burneth a wood, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire; | 14Like fire that burns the forest And like a flame that sets the mountains on fire, |
So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm. | 15So pursue them with Your tempest And terrify them with Your storm. |
Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O LORD. | 16Fill their faces with dishonor, That they may seek Your name, O LORD. |
Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish: | 17Let them be ashamed and dismayed forever, And let them be humiliated and perish, |
That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth. | 18That they may know that You alone, whose name is the LORD, Are the Most High over all the earth. |
