| 1A Song or Psalm of Asaph. Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God. | 1A song. A psalm of Asaph. God, do not keep silent. Do not be deaf, God; do not be idle. |
| 2For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head. | 2See how Your enemies make an uproar; those who hate You have acted arrogantly. |
| 3They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones. | 3They devise clever schemes against Your people; they conspire against Your treasured ones. |
| 4They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance. | 4They say, "Come, let us wipe them out as a nation so that Israel's name will no longer be remembered." |
| 5For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee: | 5For they have conspired with one mind; they form an alliance against You-- |

| 17Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish: | 17Let them be put to shame and terrified forever; let them perish in disgrace. |
| 18That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth. | 18May they know that You alone-- whose name is Yahweh-- are the Most High over all the earth. |
