A Song or Psalm of Asaph. Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.1A song. A psalm of Asaph. God, do not keep silent. Do not be deaf, God; do not be idle.
For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.2See how Your enemies make an uproar; those who hate You have acted arrogantly.
They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.3They devise clever schemes against Your people; they conspire against Your treasured ones.
They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.4They say, "Come, let us wipe them out as a nation so that Israel's name will no longer be remembered."
For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:5For they have conspired with one mind; they form an alliance against You--
The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes;6the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagrites,
Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre;7Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek, Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre.
Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah.8Even Assyria has joined them; they lend support to the sons of Lot. Selah
Do unto them as unto the Midianites; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook of Kison:9Deal with them as You did with Midian, as You did with Sisera and Jabin at the Kishon River.
Which perished at Endor: they became as dung for the earth.10They were destroyed at En-dor; they became manure for the ground.
Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb: yea, all their princes as Zebah, and as Zalmunna:11Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, and all their tribal leaders like Zebah and Zalmunna,
Who said, Let us take to ourselves the houses of God in possession.12who said, "Let us seize God's pastures for ourselves."
O my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the wind.13Make them like tumbleweed, my God, like straw before the wind.
As the fire burneth a wood, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire;14As fire burns a forest, as a flame blazes through mountains,
So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm.15so pursue them with Your tempest and terrify them with Your storm.
Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O LORD.16Cover their faces with shame so that they will seek Your name Yahweh.
Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish:17Let them be put to shame and terrified forever; let them perish in disgrace.
That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.18May they know that You alone-- whose name is Yahweh-- are the Most High over all the earth.
