Hosea 11
KJV Parallel ISV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
King James BibleInternational Standard Version
When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.1"When Israel was a young child I loved him, and from Egypt I called my son.
As they called them, so they went from them: they sacrificed unto Baalim, and burned incense to graven images.2The more I called out to them, the farther they fled from me; they sacrificed to Baals, burning incense to carved images.
I taught Ephraim also to go, taking them by their arms; but they knew not that I healed them.3Yet it was I who taught Ephraim to walk, supporting them by their arms, but they never knew that I was healing them.
I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love: and I was to them as they that take off the yoke on their jaws, and I laid meat unto them.4I guided them with human kindness, with loving reins. I acted toward them like one who removes a yoke from their neck; I bent down and fed them.
He shall not return into the land of Egypt, but the Assyrian shall be his king, because they refused to return.5"They will not return to the land of Egypt; instead, the Assyrian will be their king, because they kept refusing to repent.
And the sword shall abide on his cities, and shall consume his branches, and devour them, because of their own counsels.6The sword will fall on their cities, consuming and devouring their fortified gates, despite their planning.
And my people are bent to backsliding from me: though they called them to the most High, none at all would exalt him.7My people are determined to turn away from me; though they call to the Most High, no one is worshiping.
How shall I give thee up, Ephraim? how shall I deliver thee, Israel? how shall I make thee as Admah? how shall I set thee as Zeboim? mine heart is turned within me, my repentings are kindled together.8"How can I give up on you, Ephraim? I will deliver you, will I not, Israel? How can I treat you like Admah? I can't make you like Zeboim, can I? My heart stirs within me; my compassion also fans into flame!
I will not execute the fierceness of mine anger, I will not return to destroy Ephraim: for I am God, and not man; the Holy One in the midst of thee: and I will not enter into the city.9I will not act in my anger; I will not return to destroy Ephraim, For I am God, and not a human— the Holy One among you— so I will not enter the city in anger.
They shall walk after the LORD: he shall roar like a lion: when he shall roar, then the children shall tremble from the west.10They will go after the LORD, who will roar like a lion; and when he roars, the children will come trembling from the west.
They shall tremble as a bird out of Egypt, and as a dove out of the land of Assyria: and I will place them in their houses, saith the LORD.11Trembling like a bird, they will come out of Egypt, and as a dove from the land of Assyria; and I will settle them in their houses," declares the LORD.
Ephraim compasseth me about with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit: but Judah yet ruleth with God, and is faithful with the saints.12 "Ephraim surrounds me with lies, and the house of Israel surrounds me with deceit, But Judah still rules with God, and remains faithful, along with the godly ones."
