International Standard Version | New International Version |
The one who lives in the shelter of the Most High, who rests in the shadow of the Almighty, | 1Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. |
will say to the LORD, "You are my refuge, my fortress, and my God in whom I trust!" | 2I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust." |
He will surely deliver you from the hunter's snare and from the destructive plague. | 3Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare and from the deadly pestilence. |
With his feathers he will cover you, under his wings you will find safety. His truth is your shield and armor. | 4He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. |
You need not fear terror that stalks in the night, the arrow that flies in the day, | 5You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, |
plague that strikes in the darkness, or calamity that destroys at noon. | 6nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. |
If a thousand fall at your side or ten thousand at your right hand, it will not overcome you. | 7A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. |
Only observe it with your eyes, and you will see how the wicked are paid back. | 8You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked. |
"LORD, you are my refuge!" Because you chose the Most High as your dwelling place, | 9If you say, "The LORD is my refuge," and you make the Most High your dwelling, |
no evil will fall upon you, and no affliction will approach your tent, | 10no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. |
for he will command his angels to protect you in all your ways. | 11For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; |
With their hands they will lift you up so you will not trip over a stone. | 12they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. |
You will stomp on lions and snakes; you will trample young lions and serpents. | 13You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent. |
Because he has focused his love on me, I will deliver him. I will protect him because he knows my name. | 14"Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. |
When he calls out to me, I will answer him. I will be with him in his distress. I will deliver him, and I will honor him. | 15He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. |
I will satisfy him with long life; I will show him my deliverance. | 16With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation." |
