Psalm 33
ISV Parallel NET [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
International Standard VersionNET Bible
Rejoice in the LORD, righteous ones; for the praise of the upright is beautiful.1You godly ones, shout for joy because of the LORD! It is appropriate for the morally upright to offer him praise.
With the lyre, give thanks to the LORD; with the ten stringed harp, play music to him;2Give thanks to the LORD with the harp! Sing to him to the accompaniment of a ten-stringed instrument!
with a new song, sing to him; with shouts of joy, play skillfully.3Sing to him a new song! Play skillfully as you shout out your praises to him!
For the word of the LORD is upright; and all his works are done in faithfulness.4For the LORD's decrees are just, and everything he does is fair.
He loves righteousness and justice; the world is filled with the gracious love of the LORD.5The LORD promotes equity and justice; the LORD's faithfulness extends throughout the earth.
By the word of the LORD the heavens were made; all the heavenly bodies by the breath of his mouth.6By the LORD's decree the heavens were made; by a mere word from his mouth all the stars in the sky were created.
He gathered the oceans into a single place; he put the deep water into storehouses.7He piles up the water of the sea; he puts the oceans in storehouses.
Let all the world fear the LORD; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him;8Let the whole earth fear the LORD! Let all who live in the world stand in awe of him!
because he spoke and it came to be, because he commanded, it stood firm.9For he spoke, and it came into existence, he issued the decree, and it stood firm.
The LORD makes void the counsel of nations; he frustrates the plans of peoples.10The LORD frustrates the decisions of the nations; he nullifies the plans of the peoples.
But the LORD's counsel stands firm forever, the plans in his mind for all generations.11The LORD's decisions stand forever; his plans abide throughout the ages.
How blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he has chosen as his own inheritance.12How blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people whom he has chosen to be his special possession.
When the LORD looks down from heaven, he observes every human being.13The LORD watches from heaven; he sees all people.
From his dwelling place, he looks down on all the inhabitants of the earth.14From the place where he lives he looks carefully at all the earth's inhabitants.
He formed the hearts of them all; he understands everything they do.15He is the one who forms every human heart, and takes note of all their actions.
A king is not saved by a large army; a mighty soldier is not delivered by his great strength.16No king is delivered by his vast army; a warrior is not saved by his great might.
It is vain to trust in a horse for deliverance, even with its great strength, it cannot deliver.17A horse disappoints those who trust in it for victory; despite its great strength, it cannot deliver.
Indeed, the LORD watches those who fear him; those who trust in his gracious love18Look, the LORD takes notice of his loyal followers, those who wait for him to demonstrate his faithfulness
to deliver them from death; to keep them alive in times of famine.19by saving their lives from death and sustaining them during times of famine.
We wait on the LORD; he is our help and our shield.20We wait for the LORD; he is our deliverer and shield.
Indeed, our heart will rejoice in him, because we have placed our trust in his holy name.21For our hearts rejoice in him, for we trust in his holy name.
LORD, may your gracious love be upon us, even as we hope in you.22May we experience your faithfulness, O LORD, for we wait for you.
