The Great Flood 1And YHWH said to Noah, “Go, you and all your house, into the ark, because you I have seen righteous before My face in this generation. 2From every clean animal you shall take with you seven by seven,† a male and his female; and from the animals that are not clean, from these two: A male and his female; 3also from each bird of the heavens, seven by seven, male and female, to keep alive the seed upon the face of all the earth. 4For after seven more days I am sending rain upon the earth for forty days and forty nights; I will wipe out every living thing that I have made from the face of the ground!” 5And Noah did according to all that YHWH had commanded him. 6And Noah was a son of six hundred years, and the flood of waters came upon the earth. 7And Noah entered—and his sons, and his wife, and the wives of his sons with him—into the ark, from the face of the waters of the flood. 8From the clean animal, and from the animal that is not clean, and from the bird and everything that crawls on the ground, 9two by two they came to Noah, to the ark, male and female, as God had commanded Noah. 10And it came to pass, after the seven days, that the waters of the flood came upon the earth. 11In the six hundredth year, in that year of the life of Noah, in the second month, on the seven and tenth day of the month—on this day burst forth all the fountains of the great deep, and the windows of the heavens were opened. 12And rain was upon the earth for forty days and forty nights. 13On this very day entered Noah, and Shem and Ham and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah’s wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark— 14they and every beast according to its kind, and all the livestock according to its kind, and every crawling thing that crawls on the earth according to its kind, and every bird according to its kind (every bird of every wing). 15And they came to Noah, to the ark, two by two, from all the flesh in which is the breath of life. 16And those coming in, male and female from all flesh, they went in as God had commanded him. And YHWH shut it behind him. 17And the flood kept coming forty days on the earth, and the waters multiplied, and they lifted up the ark, and it rose high above the earth. 18And the waters prevailed and increased greatly on the earth, and the ark moved about on the face of the waters. 19And the waters prevailed greatly, greatly on the earth, and all the high mountains that were under all the heavens were covered. 20Five and ten cubits† upward the waters prevailed, and the mountains were covered. 21And all flesh that moved on the earth perished—the bird, and the livestock, and the beast, and every swarming thing that swarms on the earth, and all mankind. 22Everything that had in its nostrils the breath of the spirit of life—of all that was on the dry land—died. 23And He wiped out every living thing that was on the face of the ground: From mankind to livestock to crawling thing and to the bird of the heavens. And they were wiped out from the earth, and only Noah remained, and those who were with him in the ark. 24And the waters prevailed on the earth fifty and a hundred days. Footnotes: 2 Or by sevens; also in verse 3 20 15 cubits is approximately 22.5 feet or 6.9 meters. Berean Literal Bible This is the first draft of the Berean Literal Bible.
