Hear Us, O Shepherd of Israel

לַמְנַצֵּ֥חַ (For the one directing). אֶל־ (According to) שֹׁשַׁנִּ֑ים (Lilies) עֵד֖וּת (a Testimony). לְאָסָ֣ף (Of Asaph) מִזְמֽוֹר׃ (a Psalm).

1רֹ֘עֵ֤ה (O Shepherd) יִשְׂרָאֵ֨ל׀ (of Israel), הַאֲזִ֗ינָה (Give ear),

נֹהֵ֣ג (the One leading) כַּצֹּ֣אן (as a flock) יוֹסֵ֑ף (Joseph),

יֹשֵׁ֖ב (dwelling above) הַכְּרוּבִ֣ים (the cherubim),

הוֹפִֽיעָה׃ (shine forth) 2  לִפְנֵ֤י (before the face) אֶפְרַ֨יִם׀ (of Ephraim) וּבִנְיָ֘מִ֤ן (and Benjamin) וּמְנַשֶּׁ֗ה (and Manasseh).

עוֹרְרָ֥ה (Rouse) אֶת־ (-) גְּבֽוּרָתֶ֑ךָ (Your strength),

וּלְכָ֖ה (and come) לִישֻׁעָ֣תָה (to bring salvation) לָּֽנוּ׃ (for us).

3  אֱלֹהִ֥ים (O God), הֲשִׁיבֵ֑נוּ (restore us),

וְהָאֵ֥ר (and cause to shine) פָּ֝נֶ֗יךָ (Your face),

וְנִוָּשֵֽׁעָה׃ (and we shall be saved).

4  יְהוָ֣ה (O YHWH) אֱלֹהִ֣ים (God) צְבָא֑וֹת (of Hosts),

עַד־ (until) מָתַ֥י (when) עָ֝שַׁ֗נְתָּ (will You smolder)

בִּתְפִלַּ֥ת (at the prayer) עַמֶּֽךָ׃ (of Your people)?

5  הֶ֭אֱכַלְתָּם (You have fed them) לֶ֣חֶם (the bread) דִּמְעָ֑ה (of tears)

וַ֝תַּשְׁקֵ֗מוֹ (and caused them to drink) בִּדְמָע֥וֹת (with tears) שָׁלִֽישׁ׃ (a third part).

6  תְּשִׂימֵ֣נוּ (You have made us) מָ֭דוֹן (a strife) לִשְׁכֵנֵ֑ינוּ (to our neighbors),

וְ֝אֹיְבֵ֗ינוּ (and our enemies) יִלְעֲגוּ־ (mock) לָֽמוֹ׃ (at it).

7  אֱלֹהִ֣ים (O God) צְבָא֣וֹת (of Hosts), הֲשִׁיבֵ֑נוּ (restore us),

וְהָאֵ֥ר (and cause to shine) פָּ֝נֶ֗יךָ (Your face),

וְנִוָּשֵֽׁעָה׃ (and we shall be saved).

8  גֶּ֭פֶן (A vine) מִמִּצְרַ֣יִם (from Egypt) תַּסִּ֑יעַ (You pulled out);

תְּגָרֵ֥שׁ (You drove out) גּ֝וֹיִ֗ם (the nations) וַתִּטָּעֶֽהָ׃ (and planted her).

9  פִּנִּ֥יתָ (You cleared) לְפָנֶ֑יהָ (before her face) וַתַּשְׁרֵ֥שׁ (and let take root) שָׁ֝רָשֶׁ֗יהָ (her root),

וַתְּמַלֵּא־ (and she filled) אָֽרֶץ׃ (the land).

10  כָּסּ֣וּ (Were covered) הָרִ֣ים (the hills) צִלָּ֑הּ (with her shade)

וַ֝עֲנָפֶ֗יהָ (and with her branches) אַֽרְזֵי־ (the cedars) אֵֽל׃ (of might).

11  תְּשַׁלַּ֣ח (She sent out) קְצִירֶ֣הָ (her branches) עַד־ (to) יָ֑ם (the Sea),

וְאֶל־ (and to) נָ֝הָ֗ר (the River) יֽוֹנְקוֹתֶֽיהָ׃ (her shoots).

12  לָ֭מָּה (Why) פָּרַ֣צְתָּ (have You broken down) גְדֵרֶ֑יהָ (her walls),

וְ֝אָר֗וּהָ (pluck her fruit) כָּל־ (all) עֹ֥בְרֵי (passing by) דָֽרֶךְ׃ (the way).

13  יְכַרְסְמֶ֣נָּֽה (Tears at her) חֲזִ֣יר (the boar) מִיָּ֑עַר (from the forest),

וְזִ֖יז (and the wild beast) שָׂדַ֣י (of the field) יִרְעֶֽנָּה׃ (feeds on her).

14  אֱלֹהִ֣ים (O God) צְבָאוֹת֮ (of Hosts), שֽׁ֫וּב־ (return), נָ֥א (we pray)!

הַבֵּ֣ט (Look down) מִשָּׁמַ֣יִם (from the heavens) וּרְאֵ֑ה (and see),

וּ֝פְקֹ֗ד (and attend to) גֶּ֣פֶן (vine) זֹֽאת׃ (this).

15  וְ֭כַנָּה (And the vineyard) אֲשֶׁר־ (that) נָטְעָ֣ה (has planted) יְמִינֶ֑ךָ (Your right hand)

וְעַל־ (and for) בֵּ֝֗ן (the son) אִמַּ֥צְתָּה (You have made strong) לָּֽךְ׃ (for Yourself).

16  שְׂרֻפָ֣ה (Having been burned) בָאֵ֣שׁ (in the fire)— כְּסוּחָ֑ה (having been cut down);

מִגַּעֲרַ֖ת (at the rebuke) פָּנֶ֣יךָ (Your face) יֹאבֵֽדוּ׃ (they perish).

17  תְּֽהִי־ (Let be) יָ֭דְךָ (Your hand) עַל־ (upon) אִ֣ישׁ (the man) יְמִינֶ֑ךָ (of Your right hand),

עַל־ (upon) בֶּן־ (the son) אָ֝דָ֗ם (of man) אִמַּ֥צְתָּ (You made strong) לָּֽךְ׃ (for Yourself).

18  וְלֹא־ (And not) נָס֥וֹג (will we turn back) מִמֶּ֑ךָּ (from You);

תְּ֝חַיֵּ֗נוּ (revive us) וּבְשִׁמְךָ֥ (and on Your name) נִקְרָֽא׃ (we will call).

19  יְה֘וָ֤ה (O YHWH), אֱלֹהִ֣ים (God) צְבָא֣וֹת (of Hosts), הֲשִׁיבֵ֑נוּ (restore us);

הָאֵ֥ר (cause to shine) פָּ֝נֶ֗יךָ (Your face)

וְנִוָּשֵֽׁעָה׃ (and we shall be saved).
