Live to Please God

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
As for other matters, brothers and sisters, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more.1Finally, then, brothers, we ask and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God, just as you are doing, that you do so more and more.1Finally then, brethren, we request and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us instruction as to how you ought to walk and please God (just as you actually do walk), that you excel still more.1Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.1Finally then, brothers, we ask and encourage you in the Lord Jesus, that as you have received from us how you must walk and please God--as you are doing--do so even more.
For you know what instructions we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus.2For you know what instructions we gave you through the Lord Jesus.2For you know what commandments we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus.2For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.2For you know what commands we gave you through the Lord Jesus.
It is God's will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality;3For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality;3For this is the will of God, your sanctification; that is, that you abstain from sexual immorality;3For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:3For this is God's will, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality,
that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable,4that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor,4that each of you know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor,4That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;4so that each of you knows how to control his own body in sanctification and honor,

not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God;5not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God;5not in lustful passion, like the Gentiles who do not know God;5Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:5not with lustful desires, like the Gentiles who don't know God.
and that in this matter no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister. The Lord will punish all those who commit such sins, as we told you and warned you before.6that no one transgress and wrong his brother in this matter, because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as we told you beforehand and solemnly warned you.6and that no man transgress and defraud his brother in the matter because the Lord is the avenger in all these things, just as we also told you before and solemnly warned you.6That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.6This means one must not transgress against and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is an avenger of all these offenses, as we also previously told and warned you.
For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.7For God has not called us for impurity, but in holiness.7For God has not called us for the purpose of impurity, but in sanctification.7For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.7For God has not called us to impurity but to sanctification.
Therefore, anyone who rejects this instruction does not reject a human being but God, the very God who gives you his Holy Spirit.8Therefore whoever disregards this, disregards not man but God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.8So, he who rejects this is not rejecting man but the God who gives His Holy Spirit to you.8He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.8Therefore, the person who rejects this does not reject man, but God, who also gives you His Holy Spirit.
Now about your love for one another we do not need to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love each other.9Now concerning brotherly love you have no need for anyone to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love one another,9Now as to the love of the brethren, you have no need for anyone to write to you, for you yourselves are taught by God to love one another;9But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.9About brotherly love: You don't need me to write you because you yourselves are taught by God to love one another.

And in fact, you do love all of God's family throughout Macedonia. Yet we urge you, brothers and sisters, to do so more and more,10for that indeed is what you are doing to all the brothers throughout Macedonia. But we urge you, brothers, to do this more and more,10for indeed you do practice it toward all the brethren who are in all Macedonia. But we urge you, brethren, to excel still more,10And indeed ye do it toward all the brethren which are in all Macedonia: but we beseech you, brethren, that ye increase more and more;10In fact, you are doing this toward all the brothers in the entire region of Macedonia. But we encourage you, brothers, to do so even more,
and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you,11and to aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we instructed you,11and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life and attend to your own business and work with your hands, just as we commanded you,11And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;11to seek to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you,
so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.12so that you may walk properly before outsiders and be dependent on no one.12so that you will behave properly toward outsiders and not be in any need.12That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.12so that you may walk properly in the presence of outsiders and not be dependent on anyone.

The Return of the Lord

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.13But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope.13But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope.13But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.13We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, concerning those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve like the rest, who have no hope.
For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.14For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep.14For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.14For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.14Since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, in the same way God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep through Jesus.
According to the Lord's word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.15For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep.15For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep.15For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.15For we say this to you by a revelation from the Lord: We who are still alive at the Lord's coming will certainly have no advantage over those who have fallen asleep.
For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.16For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.16For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.16For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:16For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the archangel's voice, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.

After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.17Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.17Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.17Then we who are still alive will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and so we will always be with the Lord.
Therefore encourage one another with these words.18Therefore encourage one another with these words.18Therefore comfort one another with these words.18Wherefore comfort one another with these words.18Therefore encourage one another with these words.
