1This is the account of the descendants of Esau, who is Edom. 2Esau took his wives from the Canaanite women: Adah, daughter of Elon the Hittite; Aholibamah, daughter of Anah, daughter of Zibeon, the Hivite; 3And Basemath, Ishmael's daughter, sister of Nebajoth. 4And Adah bore to Esau Eliphaz; and Basemath bore Reuel; 5And Aholibamah bore Jeush, Jalam, and Korah: three sons of Esau, born to him in the land of Canaan.

6And Esau took his wives, sons, and daughters - everyone in his household, his livestock, and all that he had acquired in the land of Canaan; and moved to a land some distance from his brother Jacob, 7Because the land could not support all their livestock, living together. 8And Esau settled in mount Seir, which is Edom.

9And this is a further account of the family of Esau, the father of the Edomites in mount Seir: 10The names of Esau's sons were: Eliphaz, by Adah; and Reuel, by Basemath. 11And the sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatam, and Kenaz. 12And Eliphaz also had a concubine, Timna, who bore Amalek. These were Esau’s sons by the line of his wife, Adah. 13And these are the sons of Reuel: Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah; these were Esau's sons by his wife, Basemath. 14And these were Esau's sons by Aholibamah, daughter of Anah, daughter of Zibeon: Jeush, Jalam, and Korah.

15These were the sons of Esau who became leaders of his descendant tribes. The sons of Eliphaz, Esau’s firstborn son, were: Teman, Omar, Zepho, Kenaz, 16Korah, Gatam, and Amalek. They are the clan leaders that came of Eliphaz in the land of Edom; they were sons and descendants  of Adah. 17And these are the sons of Esau's second son, Reuel: Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah; they are the clan leaders that came of Reuel in the land of Edom; and are descendants of Esau's wife Basemath. 18And these are the sons of Esau by his wife, Aholibamah: Jeush, Jalam, and Korah; they were the clan leaders that came of Aholibamah, the daughter of Anah, Esau's wife. 19All these are descendants of Esau, who is Edom - men who were leaders of their clans.

20And these are the sons of Seir, the Horite (cave-dweller), who also inhabited that land: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, 21Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan: these are the clan leaders of the Horites, the children of Seir in the land of Edom. 22And the children of Lotan were Hori and Hemam; and Lotan's sister was Timna. 23And the children of Shobal were: Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho, and Onam. 24And these are the two sons of Zibeon: Ajah, and Anah. This was that Anah that found the hot springs in the wilderness, as he fed the donkeys of Zibeon, his father. 25And the children of Anah were these: Dishon, and Aholibamah, the daughter of Anah. 26And these are the sons of Dishon: Hemdan, Eshban, Ithran, and Cheran. 27The sons of Ezer are these: Bilhan, Zaavan, and Akan. 28The sons of Dishan are these: Uz, and Aran. 29These are the clan leaders that came of the Horites: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, 30Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan; they are the leaders of clans that descended from the Horites, in the land of Seir.

31And these are the kings that reigned in the land of Edom, before any Israelite king reigned over Israel: 32Bela, son of Beor, reigned in Edom; and the name of his city was Dinhabah. 33And Bela died, and Jobab, son of Zerah, of Bozrah, reigned in his stead. 34And Jobab died, and Husham, of the land of Temani, reigned in his stead. 35And Husham died, and Hadad, son of Bedad, who defeated Midian in the field of Moab, reigned in his stead; and the name of his city was Avith. 36And Hadad died, and Samlah of Masrekah reigned in his stead. 37And Samlah died, and Saul of Rehoboth by the river reigned in his stead. 38And Saul died, and Baal-hanan, son of Achbor, reigned in his stead. 39And Baal-hanan, son of Achbor died, and Hadad reigned in his stead: and the name of his city was Pau; and his wife's name was Mehetabel, the daughter of Matred, the daughter of Mezahab.

40These are the names of the clan chiefs that descended from Esau, by their clans, their regions, and by their names: Timnah, Alvah, Jetheth, 41Aholibamah, Elah, Pinon, 42Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar, 43Magdiel, Iram: these are the chiefs of Edom, according to their settlements in the land they occupied. This is the family line of Esau, the father of the Edomites.
