1And the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 2“Son of man, set your face against Gog, of the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him, 3And say, ‘Thus says the LORD God: “Behold, I am against you, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, 4And I will turn you around, and put hooks into your jaws, and I will lead you out – you and your army, horses and horsemen, all of them equipped with all sorts of armor - great company with large and small shields, all of them brandishing swords: 5Persia, Cush (Ethiopia), and Put (Libya) will be with them; all of them with shields and helmets; 6Gomer, with all its troops; the people of Beth Togarmah from the far north, with all its troops; and many other people with you. 7Get ready, prepare yourself, you, with all the troops and all the hordes that are allied with you, and take command of them. 8After many days you shall be called into action; in future years you shall invade a land that has recovered from war, whose people were gathered from many nations to the mountains of Israel, which had long laid desolate; but now returned from out of the nations, and dwell safely. 9You, your army, and other nations’ armies will invade, advancing like a storm; covering their land like a cloud - you, and all the many peoples with you.” 10‘Thus says the Sovereign LORD: “At that time evil thoughts and schemes shall enter your mind; 11And you will say, ‘I will invade the land of unwalled villages; I will attack those who are at peace and dwell securely without protective walls, bars or gates, 12To plunder and prey; to assault the once desolate places that are now again inhabited by people that have returned from the nations, and dwell in the land with cattle and goods’. 13Sheba, Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all its villages, shall ask you, ‘Have you come to rob? Have you mobilized your forces to seize silver, gold, cattle, and goods - whatever you can?’ 14Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say to Gog, ‘Thus says the Sovereign LORD: “In that day when My people of Israel are dwelling safely and vulnerable, shall you not take notice of it? 15And you shall come from your far north with many people, all of them astride horses, a huge horde, a mighty army; 16And you shall advance against My people of Israel, like a cloud covers the land. At that future time, I will bring you, Gog, against My people Israel, so that the nations may know Me, when My holy sovereignty is displayed before their eyes, and I am sanctified and vindicated by what happens to you, O Gog. 17Thus says the Sovereign LORD: ‘Are you not he of whom I have spoken in old time by My servants, the prophets of Israel, who prophesied for years, long ago, that I would bring you against them? 18‘And this is what shall come to pass at the time that Gog shall come against the land of Israel’, says the LORD God, ‘My fury shall come to a hot boil. 19For in My zeal and My fiery wrath I declare and promise that surely, in that day. there shall be a great shaking in the land of Israel, 20So that the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, the animals of the field and forest, every creature that creeps upon the earth, and all the people on the face of the earth, shall tremble at My presence. The mountains shall be overturned, the cliffs will crumble, and every wall shall fall to the ground. 21And I will summon a sword against Gog throughout all My mountains’, says the LORD God; ‘Every man's weapon shall be against his brother. 22And I will execute judgment against him using pestilence and bloodshed; and I will pour a torrential rain upon him and his hordes, all those people that are with him - an overwhelming rain with great hailstones, fire, and brimstone. 23And in this way, I will magnify and sanctify Myself in the sight of many nations; and I will make Myself known, and they shall know that I am the LORD.’”’’” Reader-Friendly Bible: Purple Letter Edition © 2024 by Jim Musser.
