1 And the word of YHWH came to Jeremiah a second time (and he was still shut up in the court of the guard), saying: 2 “Thus says YHWH, who made the earth, YHWH who formed it to establish it—YHWH is His name: 3 Call to Me and I will answer you, and will show to you great and hidden things that you have not known. 4 For thus says YHWH, the God of Israel, concerning the houses of this city and the houses of the kings of Judah pulled down against the siege mounds and against the sword: 5 They are coming in to fight with the Chaldeans and to fill them with the carcasses of the men whom I will slay in My anger and in My fury, and for whom I have hidden My face from this city and over all their evil. 6 Behold, I will bring to it health and healing; and I will heal them and will reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth. 7 And I will turn back the captivity of Judah and the captivity of Israel, and I will rebuild them as at the first. 8 And I will cleanse them from all their iniquity by which they have sinned against Me, and I will forgive all their iniquities by which they have sinned against Me and by which they have transgressed against Me. 9 And it will be for Me as a name of joy, as a praise and as an honor before all the nations of the earth, who will hear of all the good that I am doing for them, and they will dread and will tremble over all the goodness and over all the prosperity that I will provide for it. 10 Thus says YHWH: Once again there will be heard in this place of which you? say it is desolate without man and without beast, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem that are desolate without man and without inhabitant and without beast, 11 the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the voice of those saying—‘Praise YHWH of Hosts, for YHWH is good, for His loving devotion is forever’—of those bringing thank offerings into the house of YHWH. For I will turn back the captivity of the land as at the first, says YHWH. 12 Thus says YHWH of Hosts: Again in this place, which is desolate without man and without beast, and in all its cities, there will be a dwelling place of shepherds causing the flock to lie down.
