1 A Song. A Psalm of David. O God, my heart is steadfast [with confident faith]; I will sing, I will sing praises, even with my soul. My heart is steadfast, O God! I will sing and make melody with all my being! A song. A psalm of David. My heart, O God, is steadfast; I will sing and make music with all my soul.
2 Awake, harp and lyre; I will awaken the dawn! Awake, O harp and lyre! I will awake the dawn! Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn.
3 I will praise and give thanks to You, O LORD, among the people; And I will sing praises to You among the nations. I will give thanks to you, O LORD, among the peoples; I will sing praises to you among the nations. I will praise you, LORD, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples.
4 For Your lovingkindness is great and higher than the heavens; Your truth reaches to the skies. For your steadfast love is great above the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. For great is your love, higher than the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
5 Be exalted [in majesty], O God, above the heavens, And Your glory above all the earth. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens! Let your glory be over all the earth! Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth.
6 That Your beloved [ones] may be rescued, Save with Your right hand, and answer me! That your beloved ones may be delivered, give salvation by your right hand and answer me! Save us and help us with your right hand, that those you love may be delivered.
7 God has spoken in His holiness: “I will rejoice, I will portion out Shechem [as I divide Canaan among My people], And measure out the Valley of Succoth. God has promised in his holiness: “With exultation I will divide up Shechem and portion out the Valley of Succoth. God has spoken from his sanctuary: “In triumph I will parcel out Shechem and measure off the Valley of Sukkoth.
8 “Gilead is Mine, Manasseh is Mine; Ephraim also is the helmet of My head [My stronghold, My defense]; Judah is My scepter. Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine; Ephraim is my helmet, Judah my scepter. Gilead is mine, Manasseh is mine; Ephraim is my helmet, Judah is my scepter.
9 “Moab is My washbowl; Over Edom I will throw My shoe [to show Edom is Mine]; Over Philistia I will shout [in triumph].” Moab is my washbasin; upon Edom I cast my shoe; over Philistia I shout in triumph.” Moab is my washbasin, on Edom I toss my sandal; over Philistia I shout in triumph.”
10 Who will bring me into the fortified city [of Petra]? Who will lead me to Edom? Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom? Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom?
11 Have You not rejected us, O God? And will You not go out, O God, with our armies? Have you not rejected us, O God? You do not go out, O God, with our armies. Is it not you, God, you who have rejected us and no longer go out with our armies?
12 Give us help against the adversary, For deliverance by man is in vain [a worthless hope]. Oh grant us help against the foe, for vain is the salvation of man! Give us aid against the enemy, for human help is worthless.
13 With God we will do valiantly, For it is He who will trample down our enemies. With God we shall do valiantly; it is he who will tread down our foes. With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies.
