1 Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stay true to the Lord. I love you and long to see you, dear friends, for you are my joy and the crown I receive for my work. Therefore, my brothers, whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm thus in the Lord, my beloved. Therefore, my brothers and sisters, you whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm in the Lord in this way, dear friends!
2 Now I appeal to Euodia and Syntyche. Please, because you belong to the Lord, settle your disagreement. I entreat Euodia and I entreat Syntyche to agree in the Lord. I plead with Euodia and I plead with Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord.
3 And I ask you, my true partner, to help these two women, for they worked hard with me in telling others the Good News. They worked along with Clement and the rest of my co-workers, whose names are written in the Book of Life. Yes, I ask you also, true companion, help these women, who have labored side by side with me in the gospel together with Clement and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life. Yes, and I ask you, my true companion, help these women since they have contended at my side in the cause of the gospel, along with Clement and the rest of my co-workers, whose names are in the book of life.
4 Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice! Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!
5 Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.
6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
8 And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
9 Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
10 How I praise the Lord that you are concerned about me again. I know you have always been concerned for me, but you didn’t have the chance to help me. I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at length you have revived your concern for me. You were indeed concerned for me, but you had no opportunity. I rejoiced greatly in the Lord that at last you renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you were concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it.
11 Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.
12 I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.
13 For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. I can do all things through him who strengthens me. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
14 Even so, you have done well to share with me in my present difficulty. Yet it was kind of you to share my trouble. Yet it was good of you to share in my troubles.
15 As you know, you Philippians were the only ones who gave me financial help when I first brought you the Good News and then traveled on from Macedonia. No other church did this. And you Philippians yourselves know that in the beginning of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, no church entered into partnership with me in giving and receiving, except you only. Moreover, as you Philippians know, in the early days of your acquaintance with the gospel, when I set out from Macedonia, not one church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving, except you only;
16 Even when I was in Thessalonica you sent help more than once. Even in Thessalonica you sent me help for my needs once and again. for even when I was in Thessalonica, you sent me aid more than once when I was in need.
17 I don’t say this because I want a gift from you. Rather, I want you to receive a reward for your kindness. Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that increases to your credit. Not that I desire your gifts; what I desire is that more be credited to your account.
18 At the moment I have all I need—and more! I am generously supplied with the gifts you sent me with Epaphroditus. They are a sweet-smelling sacrifice that is acceptable and pleasing to God. I have received full payment, and more. I am well supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God. I have received full payment and have more than enough. I am amply supplied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent. They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God.
19 And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus. And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
20 Now all glory to God our Father forever and ever! Amen. To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen. To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
21 Give my greetings to each of God’s holy people—all who belong to Christ Jesus. The brothers who are with me send you their greetings. Greet every saint in Christ Jesus. The brothers who are with me greet you. Greet all God’s people in Christ Jesus. The brothers and sisters who are with me send greetings.
22 And all the rest of God’s people send you greetings, too, especially those in Caesar’s household. All the saints greet you, especially those of Caesar’s household. All God’s people here send you greetings, especially those who belong to Caesar’s household.
23 May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.
