1 So then, my brothers and sisters, dear friends whom I long to see, my joy and crown, stand in the Lord in this way, my dear friends! Therefore, my brothers, whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm thus in the Lord, my beloved. 2 I appeal to Euodia and to Syntyche to agree in the Lord. I entreat Euodia and I entreat Syntyche to agree in the Lord. I plead with Euodia and I plead with Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord.
3 Yes, I say also to you, true companion, help them. They have struggled together in the gospel ministry along with me and Clement and my other coworkers, whose names are in the book of life. 5 Let everyone see your gentleness. The Lord is near! Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.
6 Do not be anxious about anything. 10 I have great joy in the Lord because now at last you have again expressed your concern for me. (Now I know you were concerned before but had no opportunity to do anything.) I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at length you have revived your concern for me. You were indeed concerned for me, but you had no opportunity. I rejoiced greatly in the Lord that at last you renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you were concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it.
11 I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content in any circumstance. Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. 12 I have experienced times of need and times of abundance. In any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of contentment, whether I go satisfied or hungry, have plenty or nothing. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.
13 I am able to do all things through the one who strengthens me. I can do all things through him who strengthens me. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
14 Nevertheless, you did well to share with me in my trouble. Yet it was kind of you to share my trouble. Yet it was good of you to share in my troubles.
15 And as you Philippians know, at the beginning of my gospel ministry, when I left Macedonia, no church shared with me in this matter of giving and receiving except you alone. And you Philippians yourselves know that in the beginning of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, no church entered into partnership with me in giving and receiving, except you only. Moreover, as you Philippians know, in the early days of your acquaintance with the gospel, when I set out from Macedonia, not one church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving, except you only;
16 For even in Thessalonica on more than one occasion you sent something for my need. Even in Thessalonica you sent me help for my needs once and again. for even when I was in Thessalonica, you sent me aid more than once when I was in need.
17 I do not say this because I am seeking a gift. Rather, I seek the credit that abounds to your account. Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that increases to your credit. Not that I desire your gifts; what I desire is that more be credited to your account.
18 For I have received everything, and I have plenty. I have all I need because I received from Epaphroditus what you sent--a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, very pleasing to God. I have received full payment, and more. I am well supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God. I have received full payment and have more than enough. I am amply supplied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent. They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God.
19 And my God will supply your every need according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
