1 Therefore, my dearly beloved brethren, and most desired, my joy and my crown; so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved. Therefore, my brothers, whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm thus in the Lord, my beloved. Therefore, my brothers and sisters, you whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm in the Lord in this way, dear friends!
2 I beg of Evodia, and I beseech Syntyche, to be of one mind in the Lord. I entreat Euodia and I entreat Syntyche to agree in the Lord. I plead with Euodia and I plead with Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord.
3 And I entreat thee also, my sincere companion, help those women who have laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement and the rest of my fellow labourers, whose names are in the book of life. Yes, I ask you also, true companion, help these women, who have labored side by side with me in the gospel together with Clement and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life. Yes, and I ask you, my true companion, help these women since they have contended at my side in the cause of the gospel, along with Clement and the rest of my co-workers, whose names are in the book of life.
4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again, I say, rejoice. Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!
5 Let your modesty be known to all men. The Lord is nigh. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.
6 Be nothing solicitous; but in every thing, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your petitions be made known to God. do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
7 And the peace of God, which surpasseth all understanding, keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
8 For the rest, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever modest, whatsoever just, whatsoever holy, whatsoever lovely, whatsoever of good fame, if there be any virtue, if any praise of discipline, think on these things. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
9 The things which you have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, these do ye, and the God of peace shall be with you. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
10 Now I rejoice in the Lord exceedingly, that now at length your thought for me hath flourished again, as you did also think; but you were busied. I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at length you have revived your concern for me. You were indeed concerned for me, but you had no opportunity. I rejoiced greatly in the Lord that at last you renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you were concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it.
11 I speak not as it were for want. For I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, to be content therewith. Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.
12 I know both how to be brought low, and I know how to abound: (everywhere, and in all things I am instructed) both to be full, and to be hungry; both to abound, and to suffer need. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.
13 I can do all these things in him who strengtheneth me. I can do all things through him who strengthens me. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
14 Nevertheless you have done well in communicating to my tribulation. Yet it was kind of you to share my trouble. Yet it was good of you to share in my troubles.
15 And you also know, O Philippians, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but you only: And you Philippians yourselves know that in the beginning of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, no church entered into partnership with me in giving and receiving, except you only. Moreover, as you Philippians know, in the early days of your acquaintance with the gospel, when I set out from Macedonia, not one church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving, except you only;
16 For unto Thessalonica also you sent once and again for my use. Even in Thessalonica you sent me help for my needs once and again. for even when I was in Thessalonica, you sent me aid more than once when I was in need.
17 Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that may abound to your account. Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that increases to your credit. Not that I desire your gifts; what I desire is that more be credited to your account.
18 But I have all, and abound: I am filled, having received from Epaphroditus the things you sent, an odour of sweetness, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God. I have received full payment, and more. I am well supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God. I have received full payment and have more than enough. I am amply supplied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent. They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God.
19 And may my God supply all your want, according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
20 Now to God and our Father be glory world without end. Amen. To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen. To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
21 Salute ye every saint in Christ Jesus. Greet every saint in Christ Jesus. The brothers who are with me greet you. Greet all God’s people in Christ Jesus. The brothers and sisters who are with me send greetings.
22 The brethren who are with me, salute you. All the saints salute you; especially they that are of Caesar's household. All the saints greet you, especially those of Caesar’s household. All God’s people here send you greetings, especially those who belong to Caesar’s household.
23 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.
