1 And when he had come down from the mountain, great crowds followed him. When he came down from the mountain, great crowds followed him. When Jesus came down from the mountainside, large crowds followed him.
2 And behold, a leper came up to [him] and did him homage, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou art able to cleanse me. And behold, a leper came to him and knelt before him, saying, “Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.” A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.”
3 And he stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, I will; be cleansed. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. And Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I will; be clean.” And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy.
4 And Jesus says to him, See thou tell no man, but go, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift which Moses ordained, for a testimony to them. And Jesus said to him, “See that you say nothing to anyone, but go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a proof to them.” Then Jesus said to him, “See that you don’t tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”
5 And when he had entered into Capernaum, a centurion came to him, beseeching him, When he had entered Capernaum, a centurion came forward to him, appealing to him, When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help.
6 and saying, Lord, my servant lies paralytic in the house, suffering grievously. “Lord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home, suffering terribly.” “Lord,” he said, “my servant lies at home paralyzed, suffering terribly.”
7 And Jesus says to him, I will come and heal him. And he said to him, “I will come and heal him.” Jesus said to him, “Shall I come and heal him?”
8 And the centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not fit that thou shouldest enter under my roof; but only speak a word, and my servant shall be healed. But the centurion replied, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof, but only say the word, and my servant will be healed. The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.
9 For I also am a man under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say to this [one], Go, and he goes; and to another, Come, and he comes; and to my bondman, Do this, and he does it. For I too am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. And I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes, and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
10 And when Jesus heard it, he wondered, and said to those who followed, Verily I say unto you, Not even in Israel have I found so great faith. When Jesus heard this, he marveled and said to those who followed him, “Truly, I tell you, with no one in Israel have I found such faith. When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him, “Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith.
11 But I say unto you, that many shall come from [the] rising and setting [sun], and shall lie down at table with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of the heavens; I tell you, many will come from east and west and recline at table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven, I say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.
12 but the sons of the kingdom shall be cast out into the outer darkness: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth. while the sons of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” But the subjects of the kingdom will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
13 And Jesus said to the centurion, Go, and as thou hast believed, be it to thee. And his servant was healed in that hour. And to the centurion Jesus said, “Go; let it be done for you as you have believed.” And the servant was healed at that very moment. Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go! Let it be done just as you believed it would.” And his servant was healed at that moment.
14 And when Jesus had come to Peter's house, he saw his mother-in-law laid down and in a fever; And when Jesus entered Peter’s house, he saw his mother-in-law lying sick with a fever. When Jesus came into Peter’s house, he saw Peter’s mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever.
15 and he touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she arose and served him. He touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she rose and began to serve him. He touched her hand and the fever left her, and she got up and began to wait on him.
16 And when the evening was come, they brought to him many possessed by demons, and he cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all that were ill; That evening they brought to him many who were oppressed by demons, and he cast out the spirits with a word and healed all who were sick. When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick.
17 so that that should be fulfilled which was spoken through Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities and bore our diseases. This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah: “He took our illnesses and bore our diseases.” This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: “He took up our infirmities and bore our diseases.”
18 And Jesus, seeing great crowds around him, commanded to depart to the other side. Now when Jesus saw a crowd around him, he gave orders to go over to the other side. When Jesus saw the crowd around him, he gave orders to cross to the other side of the lake.
19 And a scribe came up and said to him, Teacher, I will follow thee whithersoever thou mayest go. And a scribe came up and said to him, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.” Then a teacher of the law came to him and said, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.”
20 And Jesus says to him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the heaven roosting-places; but the Son of man has not where he may lay his head. And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.” Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”
21 But another of his disciples said to him, Lord, suffer me first to go away and bury my father. Another of the disciples said to him, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.” Another disciple said to him, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.”
22 But Jesus said to him, Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead. And Jesus said to him, “Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead.” But Jesus told him, “Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead.”
23 And he went on board ship and his disciples followed him; And when he got into the boat, his disciples followed him. Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him.
24 and behold, [the water] became very agitated on the sea, so that the ship was covered by the waves; but he slept. And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep. Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping.
25 And the disciples came and awoke him, saying, Lord save: we perish. And they went and woke him, saying, “Save us, Lord; we are perishing.” The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!”
26 And he says to them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then, having arisen, he rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. And he said to them, “Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.
27 But the men were astonished, saying, What sort [of man] is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him? And the men marveled, saying, “What sort of man is this, that even winds and sea obey him?” The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!”
28 And there met him, when he came to the other side, to the country of the Gergesenes, two possessed by demons, coming out of the tombs, exceeding dangerous, so that no one was able to pass by that way. And when he came to the other side, to the country of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men met him, coming out of the tombs, so fierce that no one could pass that way. When he arrived at the other side in the region of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men coming from the tombs met him. They were so violent that no one could pass that way.
29 And behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Son of God? hast thou come here before the time to torment us? And behold, they cried out, “What have you to do with us, O Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?” “What do you want with us, Son of God?” they shouted. “Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?”
30 Now there was, a great way off from them, a herd of many swine feeding; Now a herd of many pigs was feeding at some distance from them. Some distance from them a large herd of pigs was feeding.
31 and the demons besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, send us away into the herd of swine. And the demons begged him, saying, “If you cast us out, send us away into the herd of pigs.” The demons begged Jesus, “If you drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs.”
32 And he said to them, Go. And they, going out, departed into the herd of swine; and lo, the whole herd [of swine] rushed down the steep slope into the sea, and died in the waters. And he said to them, “Go.” So they came out and went into the pigs, and behold, the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea and drowned in the waters. He said to them, “Go!” So they came out and went into the pigs, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and died in the water.
33 But they that fed them fled, and went away into the city and related everything, and what had happened as to those possessed by demons. The herdsmen fled, and going into the city they told everything, especially what had happened to the demon-possessed men. Those tending the pigs ran off, went into the town and reported all this, including what had happened to the demon-possessed men.
34 And behold, the whole city went out to meet Jesus; and when they saw him, they begged [him] to go away out of their coasts. And behold, all the city came out to meet Jesus, and when they saw him, they begged him to leave their region. Then the whole town went out to meet Jesus. And when they saw him, they pleaded with him to leave their region.
