1 Again he entered the synagogue. There was a man there who had a withered hand. Again he entered the synagogue, and a man was there with a withered hand. Another time Jesus went into the synagogue, and a man with a shriveled hand was there.
2 They watched him closely to see if he would cure him on the sabbath so that they might accuse him. And they watched Jesus, to see whether he would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse him. Some of them were looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, so they watched him closely to see if he would heal him on the Sabbath.
3 He said to the man with the withered hand, “Come up here before us.” And he said to the man with the withered hand, “Come here.” Jesus said to the man with the shriveled hand, “Stand up in front of everyone.”
4 Then he said to them, “Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath rather than to do evil, to save life rather than to destroy it?” But they remained silent. And he said to them, “Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do harm, to save life or to kill?” But they were silent. Then Jesus asked them, “Which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they remained silent.
5 Looking around at them with anger and grieved at their hardness of heart, he said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out and his hand was restored. And he looked around at them with anger, grieved at their hardness of heart, and said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand was restored. 6 The Pharisees went out and immediately took counsel with the Herodians against him to put him to death. 7 Jesus withdrew toward the sea with his disciples. A large number of people [followed] from Galilee and from Judea. When the great crowd heard all that he was doing, they came to him. 9 He told his disciples to have a boat ready for him because of the crowd, so that they would not crush him. 11 And whenever unclean spirits saw him they would fall down before him and shout, “You are the Son of God.” And whenever the unclean spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, “You are the Son of God.” Whenever the impure spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, “You are the Son of God.”
12 He warned them sternly not to make him known. And he strictly ordered them not to make him known. But he gave them strict orders not to tell others about him.
13 He went up the mountain and summoned those whom he wanted and they came to him. And he went up on the mountain and called to him those whom he desired, and they came to him. Jesus went up on a mountainside and called to him those he wanted, and they came to him.

20 He came home. Again [the] crowd gathered, making it impossible for them even to eat. Then he went home, and the crowd gathered again, so that they could not even eat. Then Jesus entered a house, and again a crowd gathered, so that he and his disciples were not even able to eat.
21 When his relatives heard of this they set out to seize him, for they said, “He is out of his mind.” And when his family heard it, they went out to seize him, for they were saying, “He is out of his mind.” When his family heard about this, they went to take charge of him, for they said, “He is out of his mind.”
22 The scribes who had come from Jerusalem said, “He is possessed by Beelzebul,” and “By the prince of demons he drives out demons.” And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem were saying, “He is possessed by Beelzebul,” and “by the prince of demons he casts out the demons.” And the teachers of the law who came down from Jerusalem said, “He is possessed by Beelzebul! By the prince of demons he is driving out demons.”
23 Summoning them, he began to speak to them in parables, “How can Satan drive out Satan? And he called them to him and said to them in parables, “How can Satan cast out Satan? So Jesus called them over to him and began to speak to them in parables: “How can Satan drive out Satan?
24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.
25 And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand.
26 And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand; that is the end of him. And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but is coming to an end. And if Satan opposes himself and is divided, he cannot stand; his end has come.
27 But no one can enter a strong man’s house to plunder his property unless he first ties up the strong man. Then he can plunder his house. But no one can enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man. Then indeed he may plunder his house. In fact, no one can enter a strong man’s house without first tying him up. Then he can plunder the strong man’s house.
28 Amen, I say to you, all sins and all blasphemies that people utter will be forgiven them. “Truly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the children of man, and whatever blasphemies they utter, Truly I tell you, people can be forgiven all their sins and every slander they utter,
29 But whoever blasphemes against the holy Spirit will never have forgiveness, but is guilty of an everlasting sin.” but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin”— but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin.”
30 For they had said, “He has an unclean spirit.” for they were saying, “He has an unclean spirit.” He said this because they were saying, “He has an impure spirit.”
31 His mother and his brothers arrived. Standing outside they sent word to him and called him. And his mother and his brothers came, and standing outside they sent to him and called him. Then Jesus’ mother and brothers arrived. Standing outside, they sent someone in to call him.
32 A crowd seated around him told him, “Your mother and your brothers [and your sisters] are outside asking for you.” And a crowd was sitting around him, and they said to him, “Your mother and your brothers are outside, seeking you.” A crowd was sitting around him, and they told him, “Your mother and brothers are outside looking for you.”
33 But he said to them in reply, “Who are my mother and [my] brothers?” And he answered them, “Who are my mother and my brothers?” “Who are my mother and my brothers?” he asked.
34 And looking around at those seated in the circle he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers. And looking about at those who sat around him, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! Then he looked at those seated in a circle around him and said, “Here are my mother and my brothers!
35 [For] whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother.” For whoever does the will of God, he is my brother and sister and mother.” Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.”
