1 Another time he entred into the synagogue, when a man was there who had a withered hand. Again he entered the synagogue, and a man was there with a withered hand. Another time Jesus went into the synagogue, and a man with a shriveled hand was there.
2 the Pharisees watched Jesus, to see if he would heal him on the sabbath-day, that so they might accuse him. And they watched Jesus, to see whether he would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse him. Some of them were looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, so they watched him closely to see if he would heal him on the Sabbath.
3 he said then to the man who had the withered hand, rise and stand there in the midst. And he said to the man with the withered hand, “Come here.” Jesus said to the man with the shriveled hand, “Stand up in front of everyone.”
4 and he ask'd them, is it allowed to do good, or to do mischief on the sabbath-days? to save life, or to kill? but they were very silent. And he said to them, “Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do harm, to save life or to kill?” But they were silent. Then Jesus asked them, “Which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they remained silent.
5 then he looking with indignation at those about him, being concern'd at their disingenuous perverse temper, he said to the man, stretch out your hand, which he did, and his hand become sound. And he looked around at them with anger, grieved at their hardness of heart, and said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand was restored. He looked around at them in anger and, deeply distressed at their stubborn hearts, said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand was completely restored.
6 upon this the Pharisees withdrew, and immediately enter'd into a conspiracy with the Herodians to take away his life. The Pharisees went out and immediately held counsel with the Herodians against him, how to destroy him. Then the Pharisees went out and began to plot with the Herodians how they might kill Jesus.
7 But Jesus retired with his disciples towards the sea: where a great multitude followed him from Galilee, from Judea, Jesus withdrew with his disciples to the sea, and a great crowd followed, from Galilee and Judea Jesus withdrew with his disciples to the lake, and a large crowd from Galilee followed.
8 from Jerusalem, and from Idumea, and the territory about Jordan, a considerable number of the inhabitants about Tyre and Sidon having heard of his great actions, came likewise to meet him. and Jerusalem and Idumea and from beyond the Jordan and from around Tyre and Sidon. When the great crowd heard all that he was doing, they came to him. When they heard about all he was doing, many people came to him from Judea, Jerusalem, Idumea, and the regions across the Jordan and around Tyre and Sidon.
9 wherefore, to avoid the inconveniences of the crowd, he order'd his disciples to get a small vessel ready to attend him. And he told his disciples to have a boat ready for him because of the crowd, lest they crush him, Because of the crowd he told his disciples to have a small boat ready for him, to keep the people from crowding him.
10 for having healed abundance of people, all that were afflicted with any grievous distemper pressed upon him to touch him. for he had healed many, so that all who had diseases pressed around him to touch him. For he had healed many, so that those with diseases were pushing forward to touch him.
11 and when the impure spirits saw him, they threw themselves at his feet, crying out, "thou art the son of God." And whenever the unclean spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, “You are the Son of God.” Whenever the impure spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, “You are the Son of God.”
12 but he strictly charged them, not to make him known. And he strictly ordered them not to make him known. But he gave them strict orders not to tell others about him.
13 At length he went up a mountain, and having appointed a select company to attend him, they came to him. And he went up on the mountain and called to him those whom he desired, and they came to him. Jesus went up on a mountainside and called to him those he wanted, and they came to him.
14 then he chose twelve of them to be near his person, and afterwards to be gospel-missionaries. And he appointed twelve (whom he also named apostles) so that they might be with him and he might send them out to preach He appointed twelve that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach
15 with full power to heal diseases, and dispossess demons. and have authority to cast out demons. and to have authority to drive out demons.
16 these were Simon, whom he sirnam'd Peter, James the son of Zebedee, He appointed the twelve: Simon (to whom he gave the name Peter); These are the twelve he appointed: Simon (to whom he gave the name Peter),
17 and John the brother of James, (whom he had named Boanerges, that is to say, sons of thunder.) 18 Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James the son of Alpheus, Thaddeus, Simon the Canaanite, Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon the Zealot, Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon the Zealot

20 After this they went into an house, and the crowd press'd again upon them, so as to hinder them from taking their meal. Then he went home, and the crowd gathered again, so that they could not even eat. Then Jesus entered a house, and again a crowd gathered, so that he and his disciples were not even able to eat.
21 when his relations heard of this, they went to his relief, for it was said, he fainted away. And when his family heard it, they went out to seize him, for they were saying, “He is out of his mind.” When his family heard about this, they went to take charge of him, for they said, “He is out of his mind.”
22 Some Scribes, who were come from Jerusalem, said, he is confederate with Beelzebub, the prince of the demons enables him to dispossess demons. And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem were saying, “He is possessed by Beelzebul,” and “by the prince of demons he casts out the demons.” And the teachers of the law who came down from Jerusalem said, “He is possessed by Beelzebul! By the prince of demons he is driving out demons.”
23 but calling them to him, he said by way of similitude, how can satan dispossess satan? And he called them to him and said to them in parables, “How can Satan cast out Satan? So Jesus called them over to him and began to speak to them in parables: “How can Satan drive out Satan?
24 if a kingdom be divided against it self, that kingdom cannot last. If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.
25 if a family be divided against it self, it is impossible for it to subsist. And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand.
26 so if satan rise up in opposition to his own interest, his power cannot subsist, but must entirely cease. And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but is coming to an end. And if Satan opposes himself and is divided, he cannot stand; his end has come.
27 no one can enter into a strong man's house, and plunder his goods, unless the man be first secur'd. But no one can enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man. Then indeed he may plunder his house. In fact, no one can enter a strong man’s house without first tying him up. Then he can plunder the strong man’s house.
28 I declare unto you, all the sins which men may commit, and whatsoever blasphemies they may utter, may be forgiven them. “Truly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the children of man, and whatever blasphemies they utter, Truly I tell you, people can be forgiven all their sins and every slander they utter,
29 but he that shall blaspheme against the holy Ghost, shall never be pardoned, but shall be obnoxious to eternal punishment. but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin”— but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin.”
30 this was in answer to their saying, he was influenc'd by an impure spirit. for they were saying, “He has an unclean spirit.” He said this because they were saying, “He has an impure spirit.”
31 In the mean time his brothers and his mother came there, and not being able to get within hearing, And his mother and his brothers came, and standing outside they sent to him and called him. Then Jesus’ mother and brothers arrived. Standing outside, they sent someone in to call him.
32 for the crowd about him, they sent him word to come to them, and when they told him, your mother and brothers and sisters are here without enquiring for you, And a crowd was sitting around him, and they said to him, “Your mother and your brothers are outside, seeking you.” A crowd was sitting around him, and they told him, “Your mother and brothers are outside looking for you.”
33 He answer'd, who is my mother? who are my brothers? And he answered them, “Who are my mother and my brothers?” “Who are my mother and my brothers?” he asked.
34 and casting his eyes round the company, there, said he, are my mother and my brothers. And looking about at those who sat around him, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! Then he looked at those seated in a circle around him and said, “Here are my mother and my brothers!
35 for he that does the will of God, he is my brother and sister and mother. For whoever does the will of God, he is my brother and sister and mother.” Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.”
