| 28 | τοῦτο δὲ οὐδεὶς ἔγνω τῶν ἀνακειμένων πρὸς τί εἶπεν αὐτῷ | Now no one at the table knew why he said this to him. | But no one at the meal understood why Jesus said this to him. | |
| 29 | τινὲς γὰρ ἐδόκουν ἐπεὶ τὸ γλωσσόκομον εἶχεν Ἰούδας ὅτι λέγει αὐτῷ ‹ὁ› Ἰησοῦς Ἀγόρασον ὧν χρείαν ἔχομεν εἰς τὴν ἑορτήν ἢ τοῖς πτωχοῖς ἵνα τι δῷ | Some thought that, because Judas had the moneybag, Jesus was telling him, “Buy what we need for the feast,” or that he should give something to the poor. | Since Judas had charge of the money, some thought Jesus was telling him to buy what was needed for the festival, or to give something to the poor. | |
