1 Then Yahweh answered Job and said, And the LORD said to Job: The LORD said to Job:
2 “Will the faultfinder contend with the Almighty? Let him who reproves God answer it.” “Shall a faultfinder contend with the Almighty? He who argues with God, let him answer it.” “Will the one who contends with the Almighty correct him? Let him who accuses God answer him!”
3 Then Job answered Yahweh and said, Then Job answered the LORD and said: Then Job answered the LORD:
4 “Behold, I am insignificant; what can I respond to You? I place my hand over my mouth. “Behold, I am of small account; what shall I answer you? I lay my hand on my mouth. “I am unworthy—how can I reply to you? I put my hand over my mouth.
5 Once I have spoken, and I will not answer; Even twice, and I will add nothing more.” I have spoken once, and I will not answer; twice, but I will proceed no further.” I spoke once, but I have no answer— twice, but I will say no more.”
6 Then Yahweh answered Job out of the whirlwind and said, Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind and said: Then the LORD spoke to Job out of the storm:
7 “Now gird up your loins like a man; I will ask you, and you make Me know. “Dress for action like a man; I will question you, and you make it known to me. “Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me.
8 Will you really annul My judgment? Will you condemn Me that you may be justified? Will you even put me in the wrong? Will you condemn me that you may be in the right? “Would you discredit my justice? Would you condemn me to justify yourself?
9 Or do you have an arm like God, And can you thunder with a voice like His? Have you an arm like God, and can you thunder with a voice like his? Do you have an arm like God’s, and can your voice thunder like his?
10 “Adorn yourself with exaltation and loftiness, And clothe yourself with splendor and majesty. “Adorn yourself with majesty and dignity; clothe yourself with glory and splendor. Then adorn yourself with glory and splendor, and clothe yourself in honor and majesty.

16 Behold now, its power in its loins And its vigor in the muscles of its belly. Behold, his strength in his loins, and his power in the muscles of his belly. What strength it has in its loins, what power in the muscles of its belly!
17 It hangs its tail like a cedar; The sinews of its thighs are knit together. He makes his tail stiff like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are knit together. Its tail sways like a cedar; the sinews of its thighs are close-knit.

19 “It is the first of the ways of God; Let its Maker bring near its sword. “He is the first of the works of God; let him who made him bring near his sword! It ranks first among the works of God, yet its Maker can approach it with his sword.
20 Surely the mountains bring it food, And all the beasts of the field play there. For the mountains yield food for him where all the wild beasts play. The hills bring it their produce, and all the wild animals play nearby.
21 Under the lotus plants it lies down, In the hidden place of the reeds and the marsh. Under the lotus plants he lies, in the shelter of the reeds and in the marsh. Under the lotus plants it lies, hidden among the reeds in the marsh.
22 The lotus plants cover it with shade; The willows of the brook surround it. For his shade the lotus trees cover him; the willows of the brook surround him. The lotuses conceal it in their shadow; the poplars by the stream surround it.
23 If a river oppresses, it is not alarmed; It is secure, though the Jordan bursts forth to its mouth. Behold, if the river is turbulent he is not frightened; he is confident though Jordan rushes against his mouth. A raging river does not alarm it; it is secure, though the Jordan should surge against its mouth.
24 Can anyone capture it before its eyes, With snares can anyone pierce its nose? Can one take him by his eyes, or pierce his nose with a snare? Can anyone capture it by the eyes, or trap it and pierce its nose?
